After that is the notation of Harrison County. On p. 298, John McColly [without the "e" this time] is mentioned in the description of the 400 acres to which Isaack Davisson was entitled on the "West fork waters." On p. 275, from the certificiate book: "Laucklin McIntosh is Intitled to 400 acres of land in Monongalia County Situate on the waters of TenMile Creek to Include his Settlement made thereon in the year 1774." That is followed by the notation of Greene County and, "General Lachlan McIntosh was made commander of the Wetern Department of the Revolutionary Amry in 1778" referencing Walkinshaw, Volume II and Withers. No mention of Daniel. In Vol. II p. 166 there's a John McCally who was among the trustees of the Randolph Academy which was incorporated by the gen. assembly of VA in 1787. Although Morgantown was where the trustees first met, the town selected for the Academy was Clarksburg P. 35 Lachlan McIntosh is mentioned again as taking over the Western Dept. at Fort Pitt on May 2, 1778. That appears to be all that is in the first two volumes, the only ones I have. Best regards, Jane ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jane McCann Walsh [email protected]

I know that there is a book about West Virginians in the Revolutionary War, which may have information about him. I have also seen a book that I believe was called The Soldiery of West Virginia. I don't have either of these books, but it might be worth keeping your eyes open for them. Brian Brian D. Core P.O. 3. <<Brian, Does your references books have any info on a James Shiflett. James Shiflett was born aprox 1838 possibly in Albemarle County, WV. I believe his father was also named James and his mother was Mary ? (no last name). James Shiflett married in Harrison County, WV on 11-26-1869 to Martha Lowther Reed. It is possible that Martha was James' 2nd wife & I've been told that possibly James 1st wife was also named Martha. James & Martha Shiflett are found in the 1880 Gilmer County, WV census with children: Austen, Gay, & Cora Shiflett; Rosa Reed & Worthington Mathew Reed. If you have any info on this group of people, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Norma>> Norma, No, there are no Shifletts listed in any of the volumes I have. James & Phebe Lamb's children were: John A Lamb born aprox 1843 Highland County Peter B Lamb born aprox 1847 Upshur County Jacob S Lamb born aprox 1851 Mary A Lamb born aprox 1855 James A Lamb 4-27-1861 Gilmer County, WV. Brian, I would appreciate a lookup for any information about James Johnson/Johnston who lived on Wests Run and owned land along the Monongahela River in the Wests Run area, in Monongalia Co, WV during the period of 1775 through 1796. James Johnston bought and sold land, paid taxes, was involved in a lawsuit over land with Shinns, daughter Nancy Johnson married William Robinson in 1796 and was quite active in Monongalia Co during those years. I am especially searching for mention of Rev. War participation. Any info will be helpful. I appreciate your kindness. Thank you, Lillian

    2. I was waiting until you weren't quite so swamped with lookups to ask about the LEWELLYN and MARSHALL from the books. The line of George Rogers Clark LEWELLYN s/o William LLEWELLYN and Jennie BAKER and the line of Joshua MARSHALL have been two of my brick walls for many years. Would you mind checking to see if either of these are mentioned in the books? Thank you so much. Patricia
