    1. [VA-Har-Mon] Johnson family
    2. Ruth Ann Edney
    3. Hello list, I'm descended from Peter and son Abraham Johnson (Johnstone). In looking at the early census info, it seems there are several children in early census records who aren't identified in my family records. I went through the 1850 Taylor Co. census for Johnson. Below is a chart of Abraham¹s family for 1810-1850 and list of possibilities for children. Does anyone know to what family any of the list belong? Question marks indicate unnamed children in the age group. Males 1850 1840 1830 1820 1810 63 Abraham 50-59 Abraham 40-49 Abraham 26-44 Abraham 16-25 Abraham (30-34) (20-24) 10 to 14 ? 0-9 (O-4) ? ? ? 20-29 ? 10 to 14 ? 0-9 ? ? ? ? 20 Joshua Joshua Joshua Joshua 5 to 9 ? ? ? ? 10 to 14 ? 14 William 0-4 William Females 53 Margartt 40-49 Margartt 30-39 Margartt 26-44 Margartt Margartt 15-19 ? 10 to 15 ? ? ? 0-9 ? 30 Sarah 20-29 Sarah 10 to 14 Sarah 0-9 Sarah 17 Sephonia 5 to 9 Sephonia 1850 Census: Mortimore H. age 35 (Possible 20 + in 1840? Age 44 in 1860) Robert P. 28 (Is this Robert¹s son? He¹s not living by 1860, and wife is remarried.) Leonidus 32-a lawyer? Doubt he¹s the one Joseph 38 (One of the 20-29 in 1840?) Abraham 25 (Possibly the 10-14 year old in 1840?) William 26 (wouldn¹t be 2 of same name?) George 22 Thanks, Ruth

    2. Katharine, I'll go back thru my files and see if I can find anything. I've really been impressed with this site. The people are always so nice and helpful. I've seen Hiram listed here before, but that's about all I can say. Perhaps you should inquire about him, or was that your inquiry I saw? Mike

    3. I am looking for information on Nancy Caldwell and DeHart Booth. A article I have in a book on early history of Cass Co Indiana states that these two people who married in Indiana in 1832 were originally from Harrison Co WVA. I think Nancy might be my G-aunt. Would like to know who her parents were. Jeanne Silva

    3. Hi. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my query. I am aware of this particular John Brady, who married Susannah Ware. I think it's poassible that this JOhn fathered my John by his first wife, whose name and any other information is unknown. However, I have no evidence whatsoever to back this up. My 2nd G grandfather, John Brady Jr., who married my 2G grandmother, Elizabeth Britton on August 12, 1830 is my biggest brick wall and of course, the one I REALLy want to find! AS a child I was told how our John Brady was descended from the famous Captain JOhn Brady, the indian fighter, who married Mary Quigly and had 13 children. According to family lore, our Bradys came from PA and travelled first to VA/WV and after living there for some amount of years, moved on to Indian territory, which I later learned was White County, Indiana with his two tiny daughters. they had six more children, five more girls and one boy, named Nataniel/Nathan. They lived out the rest of their lives and are buried there. Thanks again. 3. Dear Michael, This is all I have on Mary. As I said I finally found her maiden name when I obtained a copy of my ggrandfather's death certificate. It was for his mother and it was listed this way: TTT Guseman. I assumed the "TTT" was a typo which they did not bother to correct. On her tombstone next to my gggrandfather was listed thusly: MARY A STILWELL died Dec 30, 1872. I have her birthdate listed as 17 Jan 1808 but I don't remember where I got that date. I have them married c 1829-a guess because my ggrandfather was born in 1830. My ggrandfather Hiram Stilwell and two girls were born in VA (WVA) Monongalia Co. That's really all I have. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you, Katharine

    3. Forks of Cheat Baptist Church is six miles outside of Morgantown at or near Stewartstown. I just happen to have a news story about this church from July 2000 laying on my desk. Someone sent it to me . The church was established 21 Sep 1775. The cemetery is a wonderful resource of old families who came to Western Virginia. 1. [VA-Har-Mon] James McCann b. 1809
    2. Jane McCann Walsh
    3. Hi, Folks, This is the Harrison Co. McCann material which is a follow-up to the earlier email which I just sent to this list. James McCANN (1809-1887)and Achsah/Aghsah JOHNSON (1810-1897) are buried in the Bridgeport Cem., Harrison Co. WV, along with his parents, Thomas McCann (1745-1828) and Martha YAMAN (1767-1845), as well as James and Achsah's son William (1836-1858) and perhaps another, later son, or grandson, Ludwig Kossuth McCann (1851-1854). Does anyone know whose son Ludwig was? There may not be any stones for these McCanns. I found their names in an index of burials for this Bridgeport, Harrison Co. cem. in the Simpson District Cem. book published by the Harrison Co. Gen. Soc. In the Poplar Section of the Bridgeport Cem., there is a John Lindsey McCANN b. 10/2/1895 d. 3/24/1986; and in "Sanctuary #19" of the same cem. is buried an Estella Jean ROWE McCann b 12/5/1897 d 10/26/1979. Does anyone know who these McCanns were? Were they a part of this Thomas McCann b. 1745 line? From Wes Cochran's book of marriages and from the 1850 Census, I've pieced together the following information on James and Achsah's family children: Thomas MCCANN b: Abt. 1831 Martha Letitia MCCANN b: 1833 +Lemuel Davisson JARVIS b: 1821 m: June 12, 1862 in Harrison Co.,[W]VA d: 1896 William MCCANN b: January 20, 1836 d: October 03, 1858 in Harrison Co., VA Burial: Bridgeport Cem., Simpson District, Harrison Co., WV Sarah MCCANN b: Abt. 1839 +John W. MCCANN b: Abt. 1841 +Nannie BARTLETT b: Abt. 1852 in Flemingsburg, KY m: September 25, 1873 in Harrison Co., VA (WV) Father: Phipps W. BARTLETT Mother: Emily B. Margaret T. MCCANN b: Abt. 1847 +Robert R. DUBOIS b: Abt. 1842 in OH m: June 21, 1870 in Harrison Co., [W]VA Father: Joseph DUBOIS Mother: Jenny Unknown Hope this helps someone connect to this rich heritage and that this encourages such a person to share their family with this list, so that others may be helped, too. 2. Katherine, I feel my line has to connect into that of Jonathan,Sophia, and Abraham, I've never been able to find the tie. That does not mean you don't connect to that line. Amaziah also had a sister named Mary, that'a the only two in my line I can offer you. If you can give me more specifics, I'll check the Guseman book I have and see if yours is out of Abraham's line. Kind Regards, Michael

    2. Katherine, I have my Gr-Grandfather, James Donaldson Guseman b.3/24/1834. If I remember right, his parents died in a fire in "one of the western states" in 1852. Mary Anne went back to Morgantown, and James came to Texas. They were both children of Amaziah and Mary McShane(1st wife). As Amaziah & Mary were m. on 7/4/1833, and Mary d. 4/13/1838, Mary Anne had to be born between 1833-1838. Mike
