    1. Re: [UTUTAH] ALLSOP - MONTAGUE Family Photograph
    2. Hi Shelly, Sorry but this is not my "lost" family! Mine were Henderson's from Thistle, Utah. About the same time frame. Good luck on your quest to find the Allsop family. Best wishes, Norm Atkins In a message dated 9/2/2017 11:27:56 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time, cardiels@comcast.net writes: I've "rescued" an old photograph of one of the children of Mr. George A. ALLSOP of Sandy, UT. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with the child (appearing to be a female) likely about 2-3 years old at the time. I believe that this is likely a photograph of their daughter Vera. In addition to the Father's name someone has also written instructions for another copy of the photograph to be produced including tinting. Someone has also written "East of Depot 1/4 mile" on the back of the photograph as if this may have been directions to the families home. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: George Albert ALLSOP was b. 25 Jul 1867 in South Jordan or Sandy, UT to parents Thomas Hill ALLSOP (b. 15 Jun 1835 in Cheddleton, England-d. 1895) and Elizabeth "Betsey" MULLETT or MOLLETT (b. Nov 1835 in England-d. 1910). George was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Sarah Ann; Thomas Mollett; George Albert; Samuel Francis; and Laura Minnetta ALLSOP, all born between 1859 and 1883. George married Martha Medora "Dora" MONTAGUE (b. 25 Dec 1869 in Provo, UT-d. 29 Jul 1959 in Tooele, UT- dau of Levi West MONTAGUE and Elizabeth Ursula GRAVES) on 17 Nov 1886 in Sandy, UT and they had 6 children including, M. D.; Violet; Albert George; Vera E.; William; and Iven George ALLSOP, all born between 1888 and 1902. Sadly their first three children were dead by 1895 and their fifth child William died in infancy. Based on this I believe the photograph is most likely of their daughter Vera. George died 23 Jul 1929 in Salt Lake City, UT and he was buried in Sandy, UT. His daughter Vera born 1 Aug 1893 married Godfrey A. VON KOEHLER (b. 3 Apr 1886 in Connecticut) on 15 Jun 1914 in Salt Lake City, UT and they had a daughter, Emily KOEHLER b. 1917 in Utah. Vera died 4 Feb 1987 and is buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, CA. Census records provide the following details regarding this family: 1900 census of Sandy, UT: George A. ALSOP, age 32, born Jul 1867, married 13 years, born UT, parents born England, a Smelter Laborer Martha ALSOP, wife, age 32, born Dec 1867, married 13 years, 3 children/1 living, born UT, parents born France/England Vera ALSOP, dau, age 5, born Aug 1894, born UT I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
