    1. [UT-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Welcome to the ut-census-lookup Group

    3. https://Groups.io/g/ut-census-lookup Welcome to Groups.io, our new home for genealogical discussions. This is an exciting time with a very impressive website and the opportunity to rekindle our communications and, perhaps, revive research that has been set aside for a time. Diane and I want to encourage you to make us of this group with your brick walls, successes, questions and whatever answers you may have for others' queries. To begin with, introductions are encouraged, including some history about yourself etc. If we can feel like a "family" we might get more out of being here. We definitely do not want to make this such a strict environment that you are discouraged from entering or starting discussions. If you on the Rootsweb list have not yet joined at groups.io, simply click on the link at top of this message and click "Join This Group." We want you to enjoy being a part of this group and to be glad you joined in the first place. If you have other group connections where you may spread the word about us that will be great as well. Looking forward to hearing from you all, Jim "Pops" Jackson and Diane Sowden

    1. [UT-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: "Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails." We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. Please have patience about the creation of your group. The response has been tremendous and it is taking time to get them all set up. Also, creation of this group will depend upon your response to this missive. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [UT-CENSUS-LOOKUP] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

    2. Hello, RootsWeb Mailing Lists are back up and running. To better understand the new system, we recommend that you download PDF documents you will find at: http://bit.ly/RootsWebDocs The upgraded system has a completely different interface. First, you will need to re-register your account. Your login will not work. See the instructions: http://home.rootsweb.ancestry.com/listindexes/setupadmin If you administer accounts under multiple emails, read about adding multiple emails to your account: http://home.rootsweb.ancestry.com/listindexes/multiEmailAccount Once you have done that, you can see all of your lists here: https://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/postorius/accounts/subscriptions/ You can find all of our public help pages here: http://home.rootsweb.ancestry.com/listindexes/listsHelp Important: If you do not register in the new system by April 30th, your lists will be reassigned. Thanks, The Roots Web Team

    3. Hi Pops, Welcome as Our new List Administrator I personally date back to 1993 with Rootsweb, one of the original GEDCOM file up-loaders.  Research for myself began Aug 1992...which I am still subscribed to over 50 Rootsweb Lists, only these list are almost completely inactive. I am sure part of Ancestry's plan in someway or due to revamping their 3000 plus servers and adding millions of records before & after taking over Rootsweb, took precedence. Speaking for myself, I have assisted over 675 researchers since May 2004, which some may remember my offer of and assisting, a lot of changes have taken place on the Web and with Research, with the addition of so many other Genealogical Sites, some I label wannabee sites...wanting a piece of the pie, adding to the confusion for many Newbies of Research. I personally am happy with the collaboration between FamilyResearch, Ancestry, Find My Past and My Heritage - https://drdocyoung.blogspot.com/2014/02/granite-mountain-genealogy-records.html There has been several improvements that I have benefited from in the last 3-4 yrs due to their collaboration...and why I continue to offer my assistance to Researchers, wishing Rootsweb list become active once again. Thanks for the Intro Pops and wishing the best of/for this List's growth Doc Regards, D.R. "Doc" Young Genealogy Research & Assistance - drdocyoung.com SaltLake Valley, UT - originally from So. 2. Jim Jackson
    3. Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Jim "Pops" Jackson and have been given the privilege of acting as List Admin for the ut-census-lookup List. I have been active with Rootsweb for nearly 20 years and have received great pleasure in doing so. I hope this message will help spur renewed activity with offers of helpful information, requests for help etc. Obviously this means that Rootsweb is back in active status after a period of difficulties that have been dealt with and needed upgrades made. I hope to hear from you soon with your comments, information and questions. Best wishes, Jim
