Won't let you upload until the version is updated and completed. A Freepages user (thanks Ann for the heads up) has just posted that File Manager is being discontinued. I am sad to say that having checked the URLs for Freepages, Homepages, and the WWW server <http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/fileman/file_manager.cgi> <http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/fileman/file_manager.cgi> <http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/fileman/file_manager.cgi> she is correct and they all say they will be discontinued as of July 31st. What that means: If you do not have a copy of YOUR RootsWeb hosted site on YOUR computer as of July 31st, you will no longer be able to update your Freepages/Homepages/WWW site using File Manager. If you do not have an ftp client on your computer, you can download the free ftp client, Filezilla, at <https://filezilla-project.org/> For other free options, see Pat Geary's ftp page <http://www.genealogy-web-creations.com/publishing-with-ftp.htm> Please pass this important info on to all your CCs and fellow USGW members who may still be relying on the online File Manager that has been furnished by RootsWeb for so many years. This is just a reminder that if you are not already registered to vote in USGW elections, you still have time to register for the upcoming 2017 election at http://usgwelections.org Pat Asher Dataset Manager
Voting begins for USGenWeb In just a couple days. I am a candidate for the NWPL County Coordinator Representative. Please feel free to pass this on to any coordinators you may know within the NWPL. The backbone of this organization is the county coordinator. It is imperative that their volunteer job be made as easy as possible for them. From the USGenWeb leadership, they need support, help, and encouragement. I would like to help do that for the NWPL Region. My Meet the Candidate Campaign Page is located here – http://theusgenweb.org/nd/emmons/mp - If you have questions, please contact me either at my eMail address or through this listing. No matter how you vote though, please vote. Your participation and vote is very important: http://usgenweb.org/usgwelections/faq.html for Election Frequency Asked Questions. Sincerely, Mike Peterson States in NWPL: Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wyoming.
In twelve days, the polls will open for the 2016 USGW Election. This year, there are several open positions where more than one highly qualified volunteer has agreed to run, and serve if elected. I would like to suggest you take the next few days before the election starts to familiarize yourself with all the candidates. Several of them have posted campaign pages and they are listed on the Meet the Candidates page at <http://usgenweb.org/usgwelections/candidates-index.html> If you have questions, and the candidate has not posted a campaign page with a contact email, ask on your State, Special Project, or Regional mailing list. Even if a candidate is not a member of a particular mailing list, someone on that list will probably be familiar with the candidate's participation in USGW, and be able to suggest how to reach them with any questions you may have. If you are a candidate, and would like to have your campaign page added to the Meet the Candidates page, please send the URL to Gayle Triller, EC Chair <[email protected]> or to me, Dataset Manager <[email protected]> Pat Asher
