In tracking my BAIN family from AL to TX, including Wise County at one point, have gotten possibly directed to AR, and have tried through the AR Gen Web to get answers, but have little to go on other than family names and probable dates following the Civil War. My BAIN family lived in TX at that time, but served in AL unit(s?), and the family I am looking for all seemed to disappear after the 1860 TX census, except my g gfather John A. BAIN. When I did a US GenWeb search, and inserted their names, some of the same names came up on AR sites, and they were listed on Confederate Applications for Pension, and "AR State Donation and Swamp Land Sales." It was noted " veteran need not have served in an AR unit in order to recieve a pension from AR," in regards to ordering a pension application, and I'm clear on that to a certain extent as far as applying for it, but if someone could explain the land terminology, I would be very happy and appreciative. This list is such a treasure for hands on Listers and Listees, really hope some one can clue this dense mind in. Thanking anyone for any help! Mary BAIN Wendland
