    3. Donna, My Ross family is from Benton, Polk county TN, John Edward Ross has an unknown birthdate, but we are fairly certain he was born in Benton. He died about Aug 1840, but we don't know where he is buried. Polk County has a famous John Ross who was the blue eyed, red headed, chief of the Cherokee Indians, but we don't know if that is our John Ross or if our John Ross is related. We don't know where this line of Ross originated from, but Scotland would be a logical assumption. Polk County is on the far eastern side of Tennessee.
