Does anyone have any information on the Merritt family. My ggrandfather Andrew William Merritt and his wife Rachel and children moved to Decatur in about 1879 from Coles county, Illinois. Andrew died in 1885 and is buried in Sycamore Cemetery in Decatur. His son, Charles Ambrose was my grandfather. I have been unable to locate any records on his brother, Joseph Elmer Merritt. About all I know is that he married a Bonnie Price. I also have information that Andrew was a music teacher in Decatur. I don't know how he died.
