    3. My Great-grandfather, Samuel Martin West, was a rural mail carrier around Bridgeport from around 1907-1834. At first he delivered the mail with his horse and buggy. Later in a Model-T. In the winter time different people on Papa West's route would heat flat rocks on their hearth and put them in his buggy for him to warm his feet. They would carry in the cold rock that was in the buggy and put it by the hearth for another day. These rocks went all over Wise County.
