Does anyone know whether Bennie B. Crenshaw or any of his children (not sure how many he had) is still living in Wise Co.? Bennie was b. 1915 so he would be in his late 80's. His grandmother was my great aunt Martha Wilmoth "Mattie" Robertson Crenshaw; I've never met any of this line but would dearly love to have a correspondence with them if possible. Bennie had two sisters, Melinda Wilmoth (Wilmoth M.) Crenshaw Banks m. Warren Verle Banks who both died in the 60's and I believe there were no issue of this union; and Esther May Crenshaw Barnett m. Elisha Pinkney Barnett who died in 1995 and 1994 respectively and I believe there also were no issue of this union. There were also a half brother, John Hembree Coleman, and a half sister whose name I don't remember. There was a Mrs. H.G. (Alice) Blunt/Blount who may have been a niece. Any information would be appreciated. Sincerely, Mary Ann Hendrix Thurmond
Mary Ann, If you go to www.wisecad.org and look up under "owners name", you will find a B B CRENSHAW and another Crenshaw listed as property owners. You could write to them and see if they are the ones you want. I do not believe that Bennie had any children. Elisha Pinkney Barnett was my uncle. I do not have anything on the Crenshaw family except this. I had several pictures of the Crenshaw family, because Uncle Pinkney and Aunt Esther did not have children and after Aunt Esther died, Uncle Pinkney deeded his home to my mother to take care of it. He and Esther were both in the rest home and when he died we sold the house to pay for the funeral expenses for both of them. Mom had the pictures and after she died we gave them to Ruth Roberts, her mother was a sister of half-sister to Bennie. She has moved from Bridgeport, but possibly I could get her address, if you would like.
