Found my family. My dad was listed on the 1900 Census as Thomas SWOFFORD, b. Oct 1897, 2y. His parents were Robert SWOFFORD and Birdie SWOFFORD with older sister Maudie and brother John. However, family story was that his parents gave him an "Initial-name" of T. C. My brothers and I always asked where did that initial name come from? The parents said that a man came by who said he had no children of his own and if a boy was born to Robert and Birdie SWOFFORD, if the new parents would name the baby with his initial name of T. C., then he would plow their fields for them. What do you think, La Darla...do you think I might take on task of viewing all the Bridgeport Census pages to look for an adult named T. C.?
