Good afternoon, Thanks for a great website! I was going through the Wise County Marriage records and came across my great-grandmother's marriage information. WISE MARRIAGE BOOK 3 --1894-1897 It shows: Pearson, J. L.Portwood, Lula N.Apr 24, 1898Book 3567 Lula Nevada Portwood Pearson was married to my Grandfather, Carl Madison Pearson. I am not sure this is an error or maybe I have got the wrong Lula. Would you please tell me how I may obtain a copy of their marriage certificate? Is that possible? Cory, It should be book 3 page 567. The handwriting on these certificates is very difficult to read, so there can be errors in my interpretation. However, my guess is that you have quite a bit of corroboration between your data and my interpretation. How many Lula N. Portwood's are there likely to be. Usually the capital letters are the easiest to read. It is primarily the n, m, r, s, i, and u which all look alike with this clerks hand writing. However, all kinds of strange things happen. To order a copy, look on the Wise County web site http://www.rootsweb.com/~txwise/wise2.htm and find COUNTY CLERK CONTACT Information-- I hope it turns out to be correct.
