La Darla: I just emailed you earlier this week wondering why your screen name was on my buddies list. I just took time to review your web site, and want to compliment you for such a great resource for us here in Wise County. I see you have some sections about neighboring counties, but not Montague County. I have an article, length is some 2,700 words, about the founding of St. Jo, Texas in Montague in the 1870's. I wrote it and it was published in 1988 in the quarterly journal that the Dallas Genealogical Society had back in those days. I'd be happy to contribute it to your site if that would be helpful. I can provide it in a Microsoft Word fine or I can produce it as a PDF file. The founder was the first cousin, three times removed of my wife, Suzanne Margaret Boggess Sharpe. I've published a number of other articles, but they are not about Texas scenes. However, I am in the middle of writing a 50,000 word article to enter into the writers contest the Dallas Genealogical Society has annually. (I'm a life member of the DGS.) I lived in Dallas many years and located in Aurora, Wise County in 1999 for our retirement home. We love it here! The article I'm entering is about my great, great grandfather, Felix B. Dixon, an Ohio born man who bought residential land in San Augustine, Texas in 1842, thus becoming a legitimate citizen of the Republic of Texas. In pursuing his information that I am just now developing, I hope I can become a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Anyway, the article is mostly about east Texas, but it's about a Wise County resident (me). So, if that would be of interest, I would offer it when I've completed it. When I submit it to the contest, what I submit becomes property of DGS, but I retain publication rights and would freely let you post it if it would enhance what you want to have on your web site. It's complete with table of contents, index at the rear and footnotes. Talk to you later. Your genealogical Wise County friend, D. A. D. A.
