    3. Have you been able to find a Civil War pension application for him? Perhaps they moved to OK or another neighboring state. I found my greatgrandfather's application had been filed from OK although he was in TX when he enlisted and lived there for many years. Hello, My name is Barney Baker and I'm trying to locate the final resting place of my great, great, grand father, Edwin Baker. He was born in McKean Township, Licking Co., Ohio in 1832. He married Verladia Moore in 1850 in Coles Co. Ill. and it is believed that they moved to Denton Co. Texas after his father, Matthew, died in 1852. They had 7 children, 3 in Ill., Caroline, Mary, and Nancy, and 4 in Texas, twins, John and George, and Reed and Lucinda. I have census evidence that the family lived in Denton and Wise County up to 1880. He was a private in the Civil War and served with the 15 Texas Cavalry, 2 Reg't, Johnson's Brigade. There are no traceable records for Edwin or Verlidia after 1880. George and John both farmed in the area until 1930 when George moved to Clay Co. and my grandfather, George F., settled and died in Gray Co. Texas. Ancestry. Com indicates that Edwin died in Wise Co. and Verlidia died in the state of Texas. I have researched death indexes in Texas and have found no evidence of these two people. I do know that John F. Baker died in Wise Co. on 04-10-1929, # 23468, and George W. Baker died in Tarrant Co. on 10-31-1943, # 48649. George was living with his son, Rogers . I would be deeply grateful for any information you folks could provide about my family and my quest to bring closure on this chapter in my family history. Thank You, Barney Baker. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
