Judy, I was able to find the deed to a piece of property that was owned by my GG Grandfather John J. Prestridge in Chico at the Records office in Decatur. I have never been able to find a will or any probate for him but this piece of property appears to be a business location on the square in Chico. It was sold by his heirs and it lists all of their names on the deed as the sellers. There are tons of land books at the Records office. You have to pretty much pick a book in the time frame that you are looking for and see if the name you want is in the index of that book. I am sure that there are more deeds for J.J. Prestridge but the day that I was there, I ran out of time. At some point, I am going to have to go back and do some more digging. But that is exactly what it is.
