I remember many years ago, it must have been 1938 or some time later, when the water was running over the old spill way at the lake and they were afraid the dam was going to break. We lived on the West side of Bridgeport and we went to stay with my aunt who lived in the higher part of the town, on the East side. I pray that everyone stays safe. Not genealogy related I just saw a report about the horrible floods you are having there in Wise Co. Near Boyd. I hope that everyone is safe and our thoughts and prayers are With you. The report was actually on the Weather Channel so Wise Co. Made national News! Apparently you have a Weather Channel reporter in Wise Co. Right now. Tommye, The year that you remember was 1941. That was the first time the lake was full. I remember that we could not get out of Bridgeport for about a week. The roads were under water all around Bridgeport. Turkey Creek was really flooded. Hi, Royce, I remember that flood, too. My dad was working in Ft. Worth at that time. I remember driving to the river bridge on the Decatur highway and seeing my dad wade across the bridge in waist-high water, holding his suitcase over his head. Someone picked him up on the other side. As I recall, he wasn't alone. Virginia Sensibaugh Fincher R Royce Raven wrote: >Tommye, > >The year that you remember was 1941. Reading the e-mails I have received regarding the floods back in 41 leaves me the impression that you are flooding in and around Bridgeport. I haven't heard any news stating this. Can you two fill me in. The weather news here is mostly about the Tahoe fires here in California. I hope the rains will be over by the middle of July. We will be visiting my sisters in Dallas at that time. Joanne Hartsell Wiley Joanne
