Be sure and consider what happens if you are not at home when your house burns. If that happens you have lost all files that are stored at home . I put all my files on an external hard drive and keep it in my safety deposit box. I update it regularly. It just means you have to make a trip to the bank now and then. I actually use two hard drives and rotate them just incase one of the drives malfunctions. The hard drives have gotten so inexpensive that you cannot afford not the buy one or two. For any of you without a scanner... the one hour photo scanner that is at your local drug store, will scan documents just the same as a photo... and put on cd for about $3.00. What I don't currently know, is an estimate of how many image files can be on one cd?? Also... a plain jane low end printer is almost as cheap now as the ink cartridge. I had been wanting to splurge on a 3 in 1 (printer-scanner-copier) but figured it was out of the budget. When I got around to browsing at Walmart, I found that the prices had gone down to about $50 for one, and it includes a USB port to plug in a digital camera. Caution on the email storage online... I had a long time account at Yahoo, which was a designated storage area. I was devastated one day to log in, and find it had been erased, since it had not been used in 4 months!! When backing up things, if your email is on your computer at home, don't forget to get that backed up. Now I'm feeling guilty about what I know I should be doing, but have not.
Also, not to advertise for anyone, the Walgreens Drug Store will develop your photos and somehow you can download them to anyone anyplace ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wendy Caldwell" <[email protected]> To: "R Royce Raven" <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2007 2:17 PM Subject: Re: [TXWISE] FYI--from another list | For any of you without a scanner... the one hour photo scanner that is at | your local drug store, will scan documents just the same as a photo... and | put on cd for about $3.00.
