    3. You should be able to get all the information you want on Capt. George W. Stevens at the WC Historical Museum. I know there is an article and picture in the first Wise County History Book that was published and they had a program on Capt. Stevens at their historical meeting last month. You just need to talk to Rosalie Gregg or her assistant, they are great. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of ray l heinsohn Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2007 8:50 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [TXWISE] re Tx Rangers Co B Dear Joyce: Would be interested in anything on Captain George Stevens. Also, many Rangers married sisters of other Rangers and are found on the same census pages so they lived in the same area. I must confine my research to those who served in Company B of the Frontier Battalion and cite the Wise County Ranger service only for those who served in both units. Maybe able to expand that in the future. I am going to Wise County Historical Museum soon with a copy of my research and hope to solicit some help in finding descendants with photos and info to share. For those who are relating the abandonment of Wise County during and after the Civil War, the last Indian atrocity in Wise was against the Huff family in 1874. I believe Lt. Beavert of Company C trailed these same Indians but failed to catch up to them. Company C was camped near the Archer-Clay County line at the time and they were the nearest Rangers to Wise County. Company B, recruited in Wise County was then camped near the middle of Young County. Clay County was so devoid of settlers there was no 1870 census taken there.
