I saw the posting regarding the undated Wise County Messenger clipping and thought I might be able to date it. Bill Cates was my geat-uncle (my grandfather, Keith Cates, was his older brother.) My Mom used to do genealogy, and I have her pedigree. According to her records, Bill and Mamie were married on June 5, 1923, so the newspaper clipping would have been a few days after that.
