Good morning Sue and LaDarla and David and all, Your hard work had me scrutinizing the new Wise County website this morning. Didn't find anything new, drat it. Could I please offer a correction, or an additional piece of information, since I don't know exactly how the original record reads. http://www.wisecountytexas.info/misc%20genealogy/old_marr_g_h-q.htm HAMILTON, J. D. PEEL, Mrs. L. E. marr. 16 Jan 1892, book 2, page 167 should read Hamilton, J. D. PEELER, Mrs. L. E. marr. 16 Jan 1892, book 2, page 167 This was a second marriage for both the groom, Jefferson Davis Hamilton, and the bride, Letitia E. Mahaffey. I haven't followed Dave Hamilton's parentage, but Letia was a daughter of Hiram Thomas Mahaffey and Mary Duncan. Her first husband was J. William Peeler, who is buried at Bridgeport East Cemetery. As you have listed in the cemetery section of the Wise County website, Letia is buried at Chico Cemetery along with J. D. Hamilton, their son Luther Hamilton, their granddaughter Letia Ann Hamilton. J. William Peeler and Letia E. Mahaffey had one known daughter, Minnie Lee Peeler, who married Frank Robert Allen. Minnie Lee and Frank are also buried at Chico Cemetery. LaDarla-- can't remember if you know who has the old Walker Bible that lists the children and some grandchildren of Jonathan Hemphill Walker and Rebecca Walker? Still lacking the actual piece of paper that says "Malinda Walker, daughter of Jonathan Hemphill Walker and Rebecca Walker, married first to Alexander Mahaffey". Sigh. With all the peripheral evidence that's shown up, it is 99% certain that is the case. Sincerely, Alison Stevens
