He wrote it in 1919, about 2 months after the deaths of his parents. It's a wonderful history told to him by his father about why people from Tennessee migrated to Texas in the 1880's and about what they went through during the Civil War years earlier. He talks about Texas being a land of opportunity, free land, and that men were being imprisoned in Tennessee for debt. No one in my family was imprisoned for debt, but they had everything but their 400+ acres of land stripped of everything by soldiers from the north.
