How would I get a copy of a probate record? Mandy V. Cooper Volume 4, page 230, number 1558 Thanks Pat Blanton
Pat, Probate records can be one page or a thousand pages depending on how complicated the probate process was, so it is best that you look at the record yourself. But if you can't do that I would contact the Wise County Clerk and see what they can do for you. Usually the most important papers are the will and some of the associated documents. They may or may not look for particular types of documents there for you, I don't know. I abstracted the probate indices for people like yourself to be able to know whether a file existed or not, but I've never heard back as to what the clerks will do to help in this regard. If you find out, please send me a note and tell me of your success or lack thereof. The information on the clerks office is shown below. This information should you need to refer to it in the future is on the Wise County site. Just search for "clerk" http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txwise/wise2.htm David Pitts Houston TX Among records found at the Office of the County Clerk: Deeds from 1852-1982 Real property on computer search 1983- Birth Records from-- 1864--$11.00 for each certified copy of a document Marriage Records from 1881--$8.00 for each certified copy of a document Death Records from 1902--$9.00 for each certified copy of a document These record prices are subject to change without notice....
