    1. [TXWISE] 1973 index of names from the Bridgeport Index

    3. http://www.wisecountytexas.info/bridgeportindex/1973-names.htm I finally finished with the index of names for the 1973 Bridgeport Index. I indexed stories about local people, pictures of local people, events, births, obituaries, and weddings. There's over 2,000 in the index, so the page is a little slow. 1973 was the year of Bridgeport's centennial. If you are familiar with the little, hard bound, blue book "Wagon Wheels to Rockets - Bridgeport's First 100 Years", you will find most ALL of that information in the 63 page July 19th issue of the paper (1973-07-19-pg01 to 63) I think most of the pictures in the newspaper are bigger and better than the pictures in the book were. Below is a list of some of the "old pictures and stories" that were in this paper ------- Last Name, First Name or EVENT Type Year-Month-Day-Page Hunt, William Hudson 1850's Picture 1973-07-19-pg37 Description of 1871 Wise County 1871 Story 1973-07-19-pg57 Description of 1871 Wise County - continued 1871 Story 1973-07-19-pg58 Description of 1871 Wise County - continued 1871 Story 1973-07-19-pg59 City government began about 1893 1893 Story 1973-07-19-pg35 Black, Givens & A.W. 1899 Picture 1973-07-19-pg46 Rock Island Depot in 1899 1899 Picture 1973-07-19-pg46 Baptismal service -half mile south of town - 1901 1901 Picture 1973-07-19-pg33 Halsell Street in 1902 1902 Picture 1973-07-19-pg17 Train accident in 1903 1903 Picture 1973-07-19-pg22 Flood in Bridgeport - 1907 1907 Picture 1973-07-19-pg19 Shaft No. 4 1907 Picture 1973-07-19-pg35 Brick Plant in 1910 1910 Picture 1973-07-19-pg18 Arnold, Hugh 1910 Picture 1973-07-19-pg22 Henderson, Forrest 1910 Picture 1973-07-19-pg22 Poindexter, Dr. 1910 Picture 1973-07-19-pg22 Sneed Drug Store in 1910 1910 Picture 1973-07-19-pg22 Coal Miners in 1910 1910 Picture 1973-07-19-pg42 City automobile ordinance of 1910 1910 Story 1973-07-19-pg30 Miners go back to work-advance of 5 cents/ton 1910 Story 1973-07-19-pg32 Halsell Street in 1912 1912 Picture 1973-07-19-pg17 Funk, P.C., Dr. Home in 1912 1912 Picture 1973-07-19-pg22 Kaker Brothers Grocery 1912 Picture 1973-07-19-pg48 Kaker, J.A.
