Elijah Roberts was born in Missouri about 1830, but he was living in Wise County, Tx. by 1860. He was the son of E.I. and Kisiah Roberts from Pettis County, Missouri. The 1850 Missouri census lists 5 children: Joseph, Elijah, Edward I., George W, and Rebecca. Elijah married Sarah Abbott. The 1880 Wise County census shows Elijah and Sarah have two children: Allen, born 1873 and Martha, born1878. There are two Abbott nephews living with them also. The 1900 Wise County census indicates Elijah Roberts was born in October, 1830, and he has been married for 30 years. This census indicates Sarah was born in December, 1840. Living in their household are two more children: Thomas Jefferson Roberts born July-1880, and Robert Roberts, born in June, 1885. This Robert Roberts is my grandfather. His full name was Robert Pickett Bolar Lee Roberts. My mother is 96 years old, and she was his 3rd child by his first wife, Lillie Pruitt. Lillie died when my mother was just a year old. Hi Patsy,? Allen Webb Roberts son of Elijah & Sarah married my G-Ma Rhoda Elizabeth Applin after she divorced my G-Pa Charley F Simpson. Rhoda's Daughter, Effie Simpson (my Mother) married Allen Roberts son, Gwinn Thomason Roberts and their first born, Gwinn Rufus Roberts, born July 29, 1925 was my Half brother (same Mother). So I am not related to the Roberts family directly but I know a little about them.? ? By the way, my maiden surname is Williams.?
