I remember when he work there I was 5 or six years and we were living in Homebrew Flat. With all the bootleggers, and I know Bud Jeter, I played with Billy and Dusty his two boys. You had to be a tuff kid to grow up in Bridgeport at that time. Slim Hale brother in law to Ames Fredrick, had bank robber living at his house. He was in the bootlegging business, so was O Brine, and Ames. I saw O Brine try to kill his son in law with a single shot 22. We live next door to Cotton and Frances Evens, they would do anything for money. Ima Lee(albritton, billy's sister) was born in the flat, that is the reason she so tuff. She married two Baboons. That was the good old days. The great depression. Bridgeport had everything Hookers, bootlegger, if you wanted some one kill, you could find some one to do it for a price. At this time we went to the Assembly Of God Church, people called it then Holy Rollers, there were some people that lived across from us they were Holy Rollers, the rest of the people were OK. I remember O Brines, Evans coming over to our house in the evening and Heavy O Brine telling tall tells. I could tell you a lot more about the flat. Home brew flat was South of town, its the last street before you get to the track. I believe its call Brush St now. None of the houses are there now, that was there when we lived there. The way we paid the rent we fed the Land Lord, he didn't have any money. He lived in a shot gun house across the street from us. Clays(emma sudie clay and sons, charley and tollie ) lived on Country Club road, and Cates street. We live next to them before we move to the flat. Cy(charlie r. clay) was a little better off than Ben (albritton) was at that time. Before we moved to the Flat, we lived next to them. We were one block from town. There was a Ford Dealer, behind them and a Grocery Store behind us. They had a mill on Cates Street next to turkey creek. This is my beginning to find out what life is all about. Billy note: charley clay married mattie pearce. ben albritton married belle pearce. mattie and belle were sisters, raised in paradise. charley,or cy as he was called was one of those wise county bootleggers billy was so scurriously referring to. he was billy's uncle. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TXWISE-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
