Most likely a birth record doesn't exist. They didn't have birth certificates back then. When and where did he die? Perhaps his death certificate will list his parents names or the 1900 census will give you a clue? It looks like he left Texas and was in California by 1918 and married to Stella. Maybe his obit out in CA will list some siblings and then you can search for some of the siblings in the census and try to piece things together. If I had a little more info such as who his siblings were and about when they were born, I might be able to find something. But I can't find a Malvin Stewart in any 1880 or 1900 census that matches.
