    3. Rosemary, Her funeral card doesn't give any information on whether she was married or not or widowed. She was born in Chico Texas and died at the Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. The informant on the funeral card was F. H. Lucas who was the funeral home director in Fort Worth. I would give them a call and see if they have more information. I would also look for an obituary in the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I didn't see a obituary for her in the Bridgeport Index. 1. Re: [TXWISE] migration routes
    2. Clyde Edmonds
    3. My ancestors migrated from Maury county, TN to Holly Springs, MS (northern MS) in 1835, then on to Shelby county, TX in 1838. Long before MS became a state the Cherokee tribe had regular migration routes, usually north and south according to an early day map I have. While in MS my ancestors operated a "house of entertainment" which was a stage stop and an over night hostel for travelers on the toll pike from Nashville to Memphis. At the time large numbers of Tennesseans were migrating to Texas, David Crockett seems to have led the migration. Coming to TX from TN must have been an unbelievable undertaking, many rivers to cross along with unbelievable swamps to boot. In one of my gggggrandpaws writings he mentioned "landing in TX". Although I have been unable to substanciate it, I believe many traveled by water to the gulf and then up the navigable rivers to landing points such as Jefferson and Shelbyville. Others came by way of the El Camino Real from Natchitoches. How they arrived in Natchitoches is another question. Clyde Edmonds

    3. Kathy, I would be interested in reading the information on the migration from TN to TX in the 1880's. My Holmes, Harrison, Hardwick, and Montgomery relatives moved to Texas from TN and AR. Several offspring stayed in the Wise County area. They married into the Knight, Cates, Woody, and Russell families as well as others. Are you emailing the information or do you need my home address? 2. Earl Morris
    3. Is anyone familiar with the T. Irby, Photographer in Alvord? I have a picture of my great grandmother, Julia Frances Beyette, and her 2 daughters, Mary and Rosa taken by him. I have no idea when it was taken, but probably in the 1870's or 80's. There were a number Beyettes who moved into the north Texas area probably right after the civil War. My grandmother, Frances (Fanny) Beyette married my grandfather, Felix Britton Morris in 1882 in Wise cy. There are a couple of very small Beyette children buried in the Alvord cemetery, also. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of the Irby studio and/or the history of it, how long it existed or if it still is. I'm sure its long gone by now and all of the old film, etc long lost?? Thanks, Earl > Date: Tue, 10 Feb 2009 11:28:40 -0500 > From: carwom@embarqmail.com > To: txwise@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [TXWISE] 1880 news article > > Kathy, > Thank you. He wrote it in 1919, about 2 months after the deaths of his parents. It's a wonderful history told to him by his father about why people from Tennessee migrated to Texas in the 1880's and about what they went through during the Civil War years earlier. He talks about Texas being a land of opportunity, free land, and that men were being imprisoned in Tennessee for debt. No one in my family was imprisoned for debt, but they had everything but their 400+ acres of land stripped of everything by soldiers from the north. > > I will be happy to email a copy to anyone who might be interested in reading it. > Kathy Nobles Phipps > > P.O.
