My great grandfather, Malvin Trevor Stewart, was born on September 12, 1880, in Willow Point (or Sweetwater). I can find no record of his birth. I am trying to find a birth record and his parents names and birthplaces. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Janey Alexander janeyal@winfirst.com
Heads up... the FIRST ONE I clicked, showed a instrument date in the 1840s.. which is BEFORE county settlement. Those are probably rare, but hey.. what a bonus. Land records...to me.. have ALWAYS been goldmines, and the content of the deed is where the gold is. It is the finding of them that is hard. You are great, as always. --- On Sat, 6/6/09, Sheryl Shaw <cliffsmom@comcast.net> wrote: From: Sheryl Shaw <cliffsmom@comcast.net> Subject: Re: [TXWISE] Wise County Land Records To: txwise@rootsweb.com Date: Saturday, June 6, 2009, 8:03 AM David, La Darla, and Sue, just when I think the Wise County website can't get much better - it does. La Darla, The most important piece of data in the index (other than the names) is the date of the land transaction. In many cases that will be the earliest record of a person being in Wise County. I just came across a photo postcard of a young lady and gentleman, looks to be style of early 1900's. The only writing on it is my grandmother's name, Mrs. Zeola Gore, Paradise, Wise Co, Texas, and the name of Julia Langford. My grandparents moved from Wise County in the early '20s. I do not find Julia Langford in my database, so assume she was a friend, or fellow schoolteacher. I will be happy to share this photo with anyone interested. Joyce Gore Locke

Dear Editor, Bridgeport Police Department faced the first death of an officer in the line of duty April 2. Sgt. Randy White, with a high-speed chase in progress, was shepherding motorists to safety when the fleeing suspect veered to ram White's parked vehicle. The man reportedly told police he intended to kill the officer. Carrie, There are 3 funeral records on that image. Look at the red numbers 147, 147a, 147b). 147 refers to C. C. Decker 147a refers to H. C. Richburg and it says Embalming only for xxx Hawkins 147b Grey Dress for Mrs A. M. Rhine Some of these short records are very confusing.
