Scott has set his computer to automatically let every sender know he won't be there for a week. But he didn't have enough sense to unsubscribe from this list first, so everytime one of us sends a message to this list, his computer tells us all that he's not there to read it. It is not a virus. It is a case of a stupid person who doesn't think ahead about the consequences of his actions. All of us could do the same. For instance, when I leave the house to go to the dentist I could let all of you know. But I'm considerate enough not to do that. Most of you are too. Scott is not. He has his auto-responder turned on, so if you send him an email, you'll get an automatic email from him telling you he's out of the office. You might check the federal records in Fort Worth, TX. I attended a seminar where one of their employees said that they have the most complete records regarding Indian tribes. LaFon
Mary, Look on the 1900 census (for either Oklahoma or Indian Territory) and you will see areas which include the Chickasaw Nation. Among other counties: the current Jefferson County. Oklahoma became a state in 1907. As far as I know there were no census data collected there in 1880. If you have access to the 1900 census through genealogy.com look for: Census Microfilm Records: Kansas, Oklahoma, 1900 Don't ask me why Oklahoma is listed with Kansas as I don't have a clue. The Indian Nation was in (now) Oklahoma. You might try a Google.com search as to what part of Oklahoma to search.

I would like pictures of the markers for Moses Bishop Rhoads, Eugenia Sarah Rhoads, Abner Everett Rhoads and Chloe Mays Rhoads.. I received copies of the markers for C. C. and Mirnda Mitcham who are buried in the Alvord cemetery, per request to you from Alta Mitchum Durden. They were my Mother's maternal grandparents. I have been searching for info on the Mitcham's and would appreciate any info you might have on this family. My Mother's mother was Susan Annie Mitcham, daughter of C.C. and Miranda, and married Lovie Pierce Rhoads 23 Dec 1888. She was killed by lightning 28 Aug 1903 at Hefner, Ok and is buried there. Thanks for your kind help. Mary Wilkerson Earles
I'll send you all the Rhoads headstone pictures, and the one Mitcham headstone picture, from Rhoads Cemetery in separate emails. There's 11 pictures in all. If you want any others let me know. This little cemetery is in deep shaded woods, but the pictures came out pretty good. Please excuse the blue sidewalk chalk we used on these stones. We use it to be able to read the engraving from the pictures. This soft chalk washes off with the first rain. I don't know if it is the same George W. Walker(I don't know who he married), but I have a George W. Walker in my lineage. He was born about 1853 and is buried in Bald Knob near Alvord. His parents were Preston W. Walker and Sarah Smith. My great-grandmother was his sister Polly Walker Shortes.
