Thank you so much! Yes, Warren Marney is my great uncle! His father was George W. Marney born in Chico 1877 moved to Waurika, OK in 1926. He must have left behind some children. Thank you so much Christina Marney Smith
There's a Bill Marney, from Bridgeport, in the new area phone book. We only have 2 Marney headstones in Wise County. They are: Cemetery # Last Name First Name Born Date of Death Other Info. Bridgeport-East 1396 Marney Emma L. Dec 22, 1904 Oct 24, 1968Headstone with Warren W. Bridgeport-East 1397 Marney Warren W. Feb 21, 1906 Aug 24, 1969Headstone with Emma L. Also have these funeral records: H68 106 Marney Emma Saunders H69 95 Marney Warren William Bill is the son of these 2 people. Looks from these funeral records that some of the relatives have Oklahoma connections, but Warren Marney's mother was a McDaniel from Paradise. There's also an Ima Jean Wiley and Molly Neal of Bridgeport. I'll send you these funeral records in separate emails. If this is your Marney's maybe they will help with Wise County family connections. I am seeking information about Kathryn (Kay/Katie) Turner, formerly (possibly still?) of Grapevine, TX. My maternal grandfather (Frank William Roepke) married Julia C. (Furton) Martin in Manhattan, KS in 1953 after his first wife died. Julia was the mother of Kathryn Frances Martin and sons Ernie, Garvin, and Edwin. Kathryn married Norman Turner and they had a daughter, Linda. In 1966, Julia wrote me that Linda had just had a daughter, Traci Linn. Unfortunately she did not mention Linda's married name or where she lived. She did give an address for Kay in Wichita KS but when Julia died in 1967 the obituary said Kay was from Grapevine, TX. After Julia's death, our family lost contact with her children by her first marriage. Although I read this list religiously to learn about my paternal grandmother's family (Rays and Holts), I never thought I would find another connection to Wise County. I am hoping that someone who reads this list will know of Kay or her husband Norman or her daughter Linda and help me re-establish contact with them. I am preparing a new family history on the Roepke family and would like nothing better than to be able to include updated information and photos of Kay and her family. The only photos I have of them are ones that my father, Ed Schrock, took of them during the late 1940's probably. Julia adopted all 33 of her stepgrandchildren as though they were her own, and we loved her dearly. She was the only grandmother I knew on that side of the family. I have learned recently that Kay's brother Garvin died a few years ago, as did her brother Ernie. But I am unable to find Kay, Norman, or Linda. Please contact me if you have any information that would help me, or suggestions about how to find them. Perhaps someone on the list lives in or near Grapevine and has heard of them? Dear List, At a flea market I recently purchased an old cabinet card photo of an infant. The name of the child is handwritten on the back side of the card, it is James Floyd REEVES. There is also written the date of June 10, 1905. This photograph is stamped on the back with "Bunnell Art Co. Decatur, TX". I did a little census work and found an Ethel J. REEVES, age 38, widow, b. TX with four children. The first three children's names are quite unclear, so I may have them listed incorrectly. They are: Ogia O. (dau) age 16, b. TX: Nol E., (son) age 15, b. TX: Obie L. (son) age 13, b. TX: and Floyd J. (son) age 4, b. TX. I feel this fourth child is the one in the photograph. Can anybody connect to this family? I try to purchase/rescue these old photographs when I can find one that has some identification on it. There are precious few that are identified. So, all that being said, I am looking for family of James Floyd REEVES. Might he belong to you? I will appreciate any info on this family. I hope to return James Floyd to his descendants or family. The photo is clear and in very good condition. Thank you for your time. Judy

Willie D. Carpenter is buried by a son (Alvin E. son of W.D. & F.) at Thurmond Fairview Cemetery. I'll send you these 2 headstone pictures in separate emails. The only funeral record is a note on a page in the Christian Funeral Home records. It has a full date of Aug 9, 1931 and it says Z.B. Bobo (he was funeral director in the town of Rhome) to shave and embalm W.D. Carpenter. Then it says "Hearse to Rhome". I'll send you this snip of the funeral record page in separate email.
