    3. Hi you didn't mention a census year that you wanted, so I looked at several and don't find a David Rankin b. TN in Wise county. In 1900 8th precinct, Wise County Rankin, James T., age 33 b. TN, parents b. TN with wife Mary and 5 children This is the only Rankin I find in Wise county b. TN. Do you know when they came to Texas? Any children's names? 2. La Darla: I just emailed you earlier this week wondering why your screen name was on my buddies list. I just took time to review your web site, and want to compliment you for such a great resource for us here in Wise County. I see you have some sections about neighboring counties, but not Montague County. I have an article, length is some 2,700 words, about the founding of St. Jo, Texas in Montague in the 1870's. I wrote it and it was published in 1988 in the quarterly journal that the Dallas Genealogical Society had back in those days. I'd be happy to contribute it to your site if that would be helpful. I can provide it in a Microsoft Word fine or I can produce it as a PDF file. The founder was the first cousin, three times removed of my wife, Suzanne Margaret Boggess Sharpe. I've published a number of other articles, but they are not about Texas scenes. However, I am in the middle of writing a 50,000 word article to enter into the writers contest the Dallas Genealogical Society has annually. (I'm a life member of the DGS.) I lived in Dallas many years and located in Aurora, Wise County in 1999 for our retirement home. We love it here! The article I'm entering is about my great, great grandfather, Felix B. Dixon, an Ohio born man who bought residential land in San Augustine, Texas in 1842, thus becoming a legitimate citizen of the Republic of Texas. In pursuing his information that I am just now developing, I hope I can become a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas. Anyway, the article is mostly about east Texas, but it's about a Wise County resident (me). So, if that would be of interest, I would offer it when I've completed it. When I submit it to the contest, what I submit becomes property of DGS, but I retain publication rights and would freely let you post it if it would enhance what you want to have on your web site. It's complete with table of contents, index at the rear and footnotes. Talk to you later. Your genealogical Wise County friend, D. A. D. A. 2. The records of marriage are kept at the County clerk's office. See contact information on my web page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txwise/wise2.htm I must say there is very little information on all the marriage records I have seen. Except for having proof, don't expect much new information. La Darla

    3. The Texas State Archives has all the marriage records on Microfilm. You can request a roll of microfilm be sent via interlibrary loan to your local library for viewing. Once you have located the record, you can print a copy. http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/local/wise.html Ken Jackson <kenjca@earthlink.net> wrote: I found some information about a marriage I am interested in learning more about on the wonderful listing of Wise Co. 2. I do wish to thank you for the information on my family. Is it possible to correct the mistakes in these records? Joseph Wilson Hanner was born in Randolph County, Alabama. Phiola Theodosia Ernest (Leverett) Hanner was born in Troup County, Georgia. I'm not surprised that half of the family wasn't listed because they were born at home. There's errors in the children's names also. Joseph Hanner being from the south pronounced words ending with an "a" as if it was an "er". Sure makes it interesting trying to trace these people. Thank you again, Joyce Crawford

    3. Joyce, You are most welcome. I'm glad that you found the information helpful. As far as I know it isn't possible to correct data in this book. The author is deceased, so the only way would be to publish your data. One way is to publish on rootsweb world connect and thereby give people a link to the correct information. I don't know how familiar you are with rootsweb world connect, but it is a great way to share information with others and at the same time serve as a forum to enable people from distant parts of your family to discover you and your research. They automatically remove living persons from your data base when you upload your data (providing you so indicate your wish to do so). My data (if you want to see how the information is provided) are shown on: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=pitts-wright In order to submit your own gedcom file, you would go to: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/ Regards, Dave On Friday, March 12, 2004, at 01:13 PM, JOYCETUL@cs.com wrote: > I do wish to thank you for the information on my family.
