    1. Update on Booth Cemetery
    2. Sue Tackel
    3. Dale Ellison, Darrell Minter and some other friends have worked hard for several weekends to clean the brush, briars and leaves from Booth Cemetery (east of Chico). We took new pictures of the headstones on Saturday. Some were much easier to read now that they are up and out of the dirt. We found 9 new headstones that previously were lost under brush and leaves. Check out the new, cleaned-up, pictures from Booth on page http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~drycreek/booth.htm Dale has done quite a bit of research on the people buried at Booth. He can be reached at thecaveman@comcast.net Below is the updated data from Booth Cemetery. (The people who owned the land spelled their name Boothe?? We have now found those headstones.) Some of the information in parenthesis came from Beverly R. Eidson. If anyone wants any of these headstone pictures let me know. I'll email them to you. When I get to the password, it is my library card number. Once you access the census records, the available census years are on the left column. The indexed years are great and you can easily locate records from the surnames just by filling in the information on the search blocks. Only a few years have been indexed, however. You can use the "browse" feature that is above the years and still access the years that have not yet been indexed, but it is very slow going since you have to go page by page, waiting on each to dowload. Also, if you are an AOL user and keep getting a "down for maintenance" or other such messages, you will have to access your local library site through your browser. Hope this helps! 1. Re: [TXWISE-L] Alfred Lansing Sharpe/Catherine Leavell Sharp (Heritage Quest)!
    2. Eleanor: I am able to access Heritage Quest online through the TXShare connection that our local City Library has. Was fortunate enough to finally get the username and password....since I have a current library card. If I remember right, there was some discussion on this mail list earlier this year about the capability of accessing Heritage Quest over the internet, through whatever connection your local library has....after obtaining the key things....the TXShare internet address, and the username and password. I think the hard part...at least here...was getting a librarian to understand what I was talking about and then, getting those key things from them. After going to the correct internet address to get you into the TXShare "spot", it asks for the username and password. Then, after typing in the username and password, it opens up to a variety of things....but, after scrolling down about 2/3rds of the way, on the right hand side is "Heritage Quest". Clicking on that takes you into the Heritage Quest screen and lets you select searching in the Census, Books, or PERSI. What I've found in the Book search area is a number of early published (beginning of 1900's) books that have been scanned, page by page. And, these pages can be printed from your computer if you want a "hard copy". The only "down side", if there is one, is that if you don't move within this site after you've been in it....for say, 4 or 5 minutes...you get called away from your computer....you will have to go completely out and then, go back into the TXShare site, use the username and password, scroll down and click on Heritage Quest, etc. Because, a Heritage Quest screen comes up and asks for a user name and password....and those are different than the ones that the TXShare uses....and won't let you back in to HQ. Otherwise, its great! And, HQ tries to fill in for the census years that Ancestry.com doesn't have yet. I've only had a few cases where neither HQ nor Ancestry.com didn't have up a certain census year in a certain area of the U.S. that I needed. Neither HQ nor Ancestry.com have ALL the census years for all the U.S. areas up to search; so, it's nice that they sort of "compliment" each other for the most part. Hope this isn't too confusing, and is of some help. Take Care, Sallie R. Frazee El Paso, TX binkfraze@aol.com
