Excuse me...if it pertains to Wise County, and the list owner posts it, me thinkith it be appropriate. Is it inappropriate that I should have to read of other surnames than I personally researching? Nope, if I'm not interested, I just use the ol' delete thing up on the right side of the key board. God Bless, and remember to tell your family and friends you love them. ear
TO THIS IS INAPPROPIATE.......................THINK ABOUT IT IF YOU LIVE IN THE AREA AND YOU NEED THEIR HELP

There are some Lynches buried in the Gourley or Lewis cemetery in Wise County. Nancy
I am researching: Addison Evans born March 26, 1826 in Tennessee, his first wife was Polly Haney and they had one child Thomas Newton Evans born about 1848. Polly died and he married her sister Sarah Haney. They had the following children: Cynthia Evans born 1853 Polk County, Tennessee. She married John Edward Stewart in Wise County, Texas Arminda Elizabeth born about 1854 Polk County, Tennessee. She married John R Manning. Harvey F Evans (my ggrandfather) born about 1855. He married Laura J Lynch(daughter of Calvin Lynch) in Parker County, Texas. Haney Evans born 1858. That is all the information I can find on him. Addison and Sarah are buried in the Paradise Cemetery next to his brother WN and Flora Evans. I am trying to find where Laura Lynch Evans and Harvey Evans are buried. Also if Cynthia Evans Stewart and Arminda Evans Manning remarried. Is there anyone out there who may be working on this family or who may be able to help me?
I saw David E. Pitts' name on your 'look-up' list and wondered if he and my Pitts ancestors might be related. Please have him respond to my email address. Hi David, Thank you for the information. When you brought up the Ross family, it got my attention, I looked up the other names you mentioned but I didn't find a connection. Do your Ross' come from KY, migrated from TN, and before that Scotland? Thank you, Donna Ross
Donna, My Ross family is from Benton, Polk county TN, John Edward Ross has an unknown birthdate, but we are fairly certain he was born in Benton. He died about Aug 1840, but we don't know where he is buried. Polk County has a famous John Ross who was the blue eyed, red headed, chief of the Cherokee Indians, but we don't know if that is our John Ross or if our John Ross is related. We don't know where this line of Ross originated from, but Scotland would be a logical assumption. Polk County is on the far eastern side of Tennessee. Thanks for asking Dave Pitts Houston TX On Saturday, May 1, 2004, at 12:39 PM, dmross14@juno.com wrote: > > Hi David, > > Thank you for the information. Where may I obtain a listing of those buried in this cemetery? If entire list unavailable, do you have any of Mitchum or Mitcham family? Thank you. Alta Mitchem Durden
Pat, Just a few months ago we went to the New Home Baptist church and cemetery. Here are the directions. New Hope Cemetery, Parker Co. Texas, From the post office in Azle Texas on commerce Street and 730, go north 5 miles on 730 and turn west on highway 2257, travel 2.7 miles west on 2257 and turn north on New Hope Road, go .5 miles north, cemetery and New Hope Baptist Church are on the east side of the road. latitude North 32 deg. 59.407 min, West 97 deg. 35.446 min. My Ross, Peden, Melton, Ward, and Wren family lines are buried there. I believe that Joseph Abner Wren is the one who donated the land for the cemetery. Thank you very much for this information. I did not realize that it was in Parker Co rather than Wise Co. Now I just have to figure out how to find it. I will be coming thru Azle next weekend from Houston and would like to find The New Hope Baptist Cemetery. I think that it is by the New Hope Baptist Church. My gggrandfather, Taylor DeArman, is buried there. Would someone give me very explicit directions on how to get there. Will there be any problem with getting into the cemetery. Pat
This is the info I got on the budge cuts and its effect on the Texas State Library. If you have had access to Heritage Quest, you know how wonderful it is to those of us in rural areas of TX. If you have not had access to Heritage Quest, well you have missed out on an wonderful resource to the US census and it has wonderful search abilities to it. I started once to forward this to this list because it is so good and so active. Not sure we can make a difference in these hard economic times but every ant pushing makes a difference. I encourage you to talk with your library and see what might can be done.
