We have great grand parents that lived in Wise County in the 1850s', 60s', and 1870s.The were the Halsells' (William), Crutchfields (John and Laura E.), and Coopers' (W. C., Coon, Laura, and Alice Bell). Most of my information is from US census, but this leaves some uncertainty. We tried to obtain a copy of "The pioneer History of Wise Co." but could not find one. I would appreciate any help you migh give or sources you could suggest. Thank You Marlynn and Gordon Butler 131 Hidden Creek Wimberley, Texas 78676
LaDarla, I forgot to answer one of your questions. "What supplies will we need to bring?" The answer is not anything except maybe a pencil. The Historical Society, Inc. and John B. Denton Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution are furnishing the supplies for this class. The notebooks has sheets that are printed only on one side which the backs can be used for notes. LaDarla, The class is for anyone who wishes to attend. Part will be very basic and part will be somewhat advanced. Believe it will be beneficial to anyone interested in genealogy at all. Ronald said he hoped you would be able to attend. We are hoping for a good attendance and it looks like we will have one. Ronald said if this one gets to full he will teach another one later. Said he thought it best to keep class to a minimum of 25 to be able to answer questions and help. If you would like to attend let me know and I will put your name on the list. LaDarla, Thought I would mention that we are going to have a Free Genealogy Workshop at the Museum September 11 at 1:00P.M. That is on a Saturday. We are going to have 25 at a time for the class. If there are more than 25 sign up for this class, we will try to have another one a little later. We have not advertised it except when people would come by the Museum for we were waiting until closer to September and we already have about 14 or 15 signed up. Anyone wishing to have their name placed on the list to reserve them a place send an e-mail to wisemuseum@ntws.net. We need their name, address, phone number, and if they have one an e-mail address. We will notify them about a week in advance to remind them of the class. Thank You Carla Womack, President Wise County Historical Society, Inc. P.O. Hello! I am trying to find any information that I can in the Pearson families that lived in Wise County, Texas in the Boyd, Cottondale areas. Anything from census records to funeral and marriage notices would be wonderful. Specifically, the people who I am hunting for are Wilson Nesbitt Pearson, 1825-1881 and his wife, Terry B. Brewton and their descendants. Please send any replies to dragontango@hotmail.com Thank you. _________________________________________________________________ Dont just search. Find. Diana, I found something interesting in the Texas Land Title Abstracts.. Grantee: B.C. Barnes, Patentee: Hrs of B. C. Barnes, Patent Date: 21 Jan 1960, Acres 160. District: Fannin, County Wise, File 1597, Patent # 474, Patent Volume: 29 B, Class: Fan Scr...... It appears that there was some legal action to settle the estate? Is it possible to get a list of the heirs referred to in the Patentee.....The date of January 1960 appears strange. Also is it possible to get a legal description of the property referred to?
