Laura Lucritia Holt and Robert Holt were children of Mary Ann Lafferty..... Mary Ann is my Great Grandmother. She was married to Terry Green Brock in McMinn Co., Tenn. They had 4 or 5 children. Then then next I can find... she was in Fla.. (Robert was born in Key West, Fl)and had two children named Holt..... I do not know where my great grandfather passed away.. or if they divorced, but I believe he died, as she is later living in Aurora with her son, (my grandfather, William T. (W.T.Brock), another Brock child and Laura and Robert.....I have not been able to find out the name of Laura and Roberts father, whether or not he and Mary Ann divorced or if he died.... I think he must have been in the military as there was a military fort at Key West at that time....I am assuming that they married in Tenn as that is where Laura was born. Mary Ann Lafferty is buried at Thomas Cemetery listed as wife of T.G. Brock.... I am sorry that I am rambling so much on this, but I need to get my papers out to give the exact dates, etc. Just wanted to give you some info that I do have... I just saw on the news that most of the stolen items have been recovered. How wonderful! Rosalie Gregg did a beautiful job of sharing this on the news. I am puzzled as to what secondary gain the juveniles received from this mischief. It seems so senseless to me! Thanks to all of you and what you do for those of us seeking Wise County info. Donna M. Went to Sunset. My Grandmother Maude Meadows Fields, always told she was born about 1895-96 in Sunset, TX. I was able to track down a deed over in the Decatur courthouse. Marion was my Great Grandfather and David was my Great Grandmother. (They had the deed. Kiszar or Keziah was her name listed on the deed. Collins was her maiden name.) They did have two children older than my grandmother Maude, they were Willie (William Morgan Meadows born 1892-93 ) and Lilly (Lillian Meadows born 1893-95), If you happen across anything related to this small family, I'd appreciate anything you could email me. There's a good chance Marion worked with the railroad at the time they arrived and departed Wise county. Thanks for anything you find. Doris, Today I found a picture and written on the back is "Lucy Tunrbo - Papa's youngest sister and family." It is my Grandmother Minor's writing and her father was Samuel Martin West. He was born in 1863 near Keller and South Lake, Tarrant County, Texas. That is near where DFW Airport is. I don't know if this Turnbo is related. Maybe Louise Turnbo was a niece of Lucy Turnbo's husband. ?? I will send you a copty of that picture, the picture of my grandmother and Louise Turnbo and the picture that maybe a picture of Lousie as an adult. Danna, I did a lookup for you from: Birth Records Wise County Texas, 1864-1902 by Julian G. Allen, publ. by Julian G. Allen 1986, Austin Texas. In my experience only about 10% of the births in this period were reported. page 179 S. R. Hudson (b. AL) and Lou Homes (b. I have know idea. And I may not remember the story right. I have a studio picture of my grandmother with Louise Turnbow. My grandmother looks like she is at least 13 or more. Louise looks like she is a preschooler. I also have a studio picture of a grown woman that I have no clue who it is. It may be the same person. We have laughed and said she is way to pretty to be related to us. I will send these two pictures tomorrow. They are in my car and it is late. My grandparents were Sam and Laura West. He was a rural mail carrier. They married in 1888 in Bridgeport. They moved to Fort Worth in the early 1930s. He died in 1935 and she in 1947. My grandmother was born in 1901 and died in1990. My grandmother was their youngest child. That is all I know. Do you have any pictures of her? I have a picture of my grandmother and Louise. My grandmother was born in 1901 in Bridgeport. My grandmother looks like she is at least 14 or so and the little girl with her looks possibly preschool age. I also have a studio picture of a grown woman that may be the same peson. She is beautiful. We have all laughed and said she is too pretty to be related to us. Tomorrow I will get my husband to show me how to copy them and send them to you. My grandmother married in 1920. On the back of this picture it is written Carrie West and Louise Turnbow. My grandmother became Carrie Minor in 1920. My great-grandparents were Sam and Laura West. He was a rural mailcarrier, a Mason and a Baptist. They married in Bridgeport in 1888 and moved to Ft. Worth in the early 1930s. He died in 1935 and she in 1947. My grandmother died in 1990. Please write me back. She lived in Bridgeport around 1910-1915.(?) Her mother passed away when she was a small child. She lived with my great-grandparents, Sam and Laura West. Her father later remarried and she went to live with him and a new stepmother. I think she lived with my grandparents for around four years. > >
