    3. Faye, You should have been there when I was going through mom's pictures. It took me weeks! There was a picture of this one old grandmother lady that actually had her last name spelled differently on the front. I had spent loads of time looking for the other name without the 'E' at the end, AND it's pronounciation was another surprise that I learned from folks on this Wise Co. list! I finished going through your Family tree info and I am emailing you some information that I have that is different. It took me all day to compare. I also have some sources listed for you. It may take you all day to read what I sent you and compare with what you have. Sorry. ~Nancy Fidldeetoo@aol.com wrote: > > >I have spent the day looking through old pictures that belonged to my >mother-in-law. 3. I agree too. I too have a grandmother who has photo albums full of old, old, pictures with no names AND we don't have any idea who they are, AND NO ONE ELSE KNOWS who they are because GRANDMOTHER elects not to tell us since we are just now asking. Just now showing an interest. Please don't send email telling me how to get her to share, I've BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!!!! My mother tells me that if she is every that hateful to just shoot her. 3. If you have several correspondents working on your family, you might consider digitizing some of the unknown photos and passing them around. Several of my unknown photos were easily identified by distant family members. Of course, I still have many which remain unidentified. Group efforts produce amazing results at times. 3. Cory, It should be book 3 page 567. The handwriting on these certificates is very difficult to read, so there can be errors in my interpretation. However, my guess is that you have quite a bit of corroboration between your data and my interpretation. How many Lula N. Portwood's are there likely to be. Usually the capital letters are the easiest to read. It is primarily the n, m, r, s, i, and u which all look alike with this clerks hand writing. However, all kinds of strange things happen. To order a copy, look on the Wise County web site http://www.rootsweb.com/~txwise/wise2.htm and find COUNTY CLERK CONTACT Information-- I hope it turns out to be correct. Actually one of my friends swore she saw unlabeled pictures in an antique shop marked "instant ancestors." So there's money in those unknowns! and one can always ease one's conscience by 1. the next generation will throw away and 2. they must not have been relatives (neighbors, teachers, the postman, work) Virginia Green
