YES!! Hooray!! You are the first person I've had contact with who had even the vaguest connection with descendants of W.W.O. Stanfield (Thomas Liddle Stanfield's father)!! I have information that Thomas's daughter was named Jesse, and she is one of the first members of the Daughters of the Texas Revolution. Apparently there were two daughters--I don't have any information about Annie Lee, but I'll try to run her down! I finally got discouraged from not being about to go any further on the Stanfield line than my own that I'll have to do some digging to refresh my memory. My grandmother (Ruby Stanfield, 1889-1986) grew up and taught school (until 1910, when they moved) around Wise County (Chico and Bowie that I know of) and talked about her many cousins in that area (Gardners, Stanfields, Ramsdales, and others). I've always thought it incredible that out of that many children and descendants of those chirldren that it seems I'm the only one interested in genealogy! Thank you, thank you again, for contacting me!! -Joanne ----- Original Message ----- From: <Tcmcmurray@aol.com> To: <TXWISE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, October 08, 2004 11:58 PM Subject: Re: [TXWISE-L] Stanfield > Dear Joanne, > My husband's g-g-aunt, Emily Jane Beeson, married Thomas L. Dear Joanne, My husband's g-g-aunt, Emily Jane Beeson, married Thomas L. Stanfield in Decatur 16 July 1867. They had a daughter named Annie Lee Stanfield, b. 14 June 1868. That is all the information that I have. Does this family connect with your family? Janet Gough McMurray
I have one even worse. My 3 sisters and I were raised by our grandparents in Corpus Christi. Growing up we were not allowed near the picture boxes. I only remember a couple of times that "Granny" brought them out and looked at them. During hurricane Celia in 1970 a lot were lost that got wet. She was desperate to make sure they were preserved as much as possible. Being the oldest I left married and left home first. I didn't really interested in the family history until it was too late. My 2 youngest sisters took complete control of the pictures and other belongings. One was appointed executer for my grandfather since he died last. The youngest took most of the pictures when they were still alive and put them in magnetic albums and never returned them. Neither of my sisters has any interest in genealogy or knows who the people are in the pictures or cares. I have asked to be able to copy them before it is too late. The youngest won't even bring them out for me to look at! because she doesn't want to share. The other one brought out some pictures once and I spent $200.00 at a photo copy machine while there and her looking over my shoulder the whole time. The problem there is that some of the pictures she has were written on by the other grandfather who seemed to be really good at doing that. We didn't grow up knowing any of my mother's family. Didn't find my mother until 91. Then there are pictures that have names on them of my dad's father's side that. My paternal grandfather was adopted and then when he was married with children, the family was reunited again with biological family. Since the internet research I have made contact with several distant cousins that I know could identify alot of the people, but she won't let me have them. States it is her duty to hang onto them. (For What I don't know).I have explained my reason for wanting them. With technology now I could copy them and return the originals. I am afraid she is going to l! ose them or something happen. The youngest sister the same thing. They all still live in Corpus Christi and I live near Houston and unable to travel there as often as I would like to. Have been married 29 years and living in the same place 22 years. They each have bounced around and have not had stable lives and jobs for themselves. The other sister is working for my side trying to convince them to give them up. The only thing I can figure is that it is jealousy and they have something I want. All I can do is hope and pray that one day, before it is too late that they will share. When I have obtained pic's from distant cousins, I have made copies and shared them and explained the connections. Just had to tell my story. DeborahMagnolia TX P.S. I have been to Wise County doing research on paternal mother's side. What you've done is a wonderful gift to your descendants! I ran across an interesting thing to do with old, unidentified phots at the Guadalupe Art Center, in Austin. All along both sides of one long hallway were old photos, matted and framed. I spent a slow 20 minutes or so going down that hallway looking at the photos and speculating about the lives of the people in them. Not really a lot of help to the descendants, but a way to continue to enjoy the pictures. David, I sent her my file on Mary. Her name is actually Mary Melissa Thomas, She married a Coffman. That's probably why you couldn't find her. See below: 1. Mary Melissa Thomas, born November 16, 1866 in or 1867 in Springtown, Parker/ (Wise Co.,) Tx; died December 9, 1930 in Springtown, Parker Co. now, (Wise Co.), Tx. She was the daughter of 2. Abraham Thomas and 3. Winnie G. Tutor. She married (1) Samuel Patton Coffman Abt. March 7, 1886 in Parker Co., TX. Notes for MARY MELISSA THOMAS: Born and raised in Springtown, Tx , Mary actually died at Anadarko, OK another OBIT -- on a single sheet of paper like a passout. It lists her born and died dates which I didn't have and also her middle name spelling is different. "FUNERAL NOTICE -- DIED Mrs. Mary Malisse Coffman - Born, Nov. 16, 1866, Died Dec. 9, 1930 - (Wife of S. P.
