Donna Erwin, A book containing some information about the John Baxter Kelley was written recently and was published by the Paradise Historical Society. The book states that Grace Kelley married John Lookingbill and lived in the Paradise area and later moved to Hereford, Texas where Grace is buried. Ella Gertrude "Nell" Kelley married Lon W. Clark. Roy A. Kelley was living at home with his parents in 1900 and later married Bilby Phillips and had one son Floyd Lynn. Other information about the Kelley is in "Reflections of the Past Part II" available to purchase @ $25.00 from the Paradise Historical Society. Ellie, I think the Wise county Historical Society has microfilm of many of the early years, but I don't think there is an index after 1910, so you will have to read each issue. http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=nalflippin&id=I0346 Hi... another researcher has info on him, along with where he was in 1850, 1860, 1870. Not sure if this is of value to you, or if you only want to find what happened to him after 1880. The file also has his parents. I am ALWAYS cautious regarding posted files, but this seems to include good sources for the info.
I didn't find anything on Zebulon Goodman in Wise County Texas. I also looked at the Texas Death Index from 1903 to 1955 and didn't see him there either. Could be he died later or in another state. Yes, the old red courthouse is still in use. the paper mentioned this week that they are very crowded and have hopes of building another. After Mattie's closed it sat vacant for a short time and was then renovated and Sweety Pie's (a steak house) opened in the building. It is part of the Babe's group of restaurants. They have homemade bread to die for. La Darla In a message dated 6/7/2007 1:47:56 A.M. Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: The county clerks office is NE of the old courthouse. Is the large red courthouse featured on the Wise County web page still in use or has everything been moved to the building across the street? When we visited Decatur in 2004, there was a Mattie's cafe on the square? Is it still there? Rita in NM
