    3. Hey--we apparently have to hit "reply all" or the answers go to the member only, rather than the list... Folks, below this email is one Jackie wrote in answer to mine about the ALLISON-POOL Land War that took place from about 1847-1860s (!). Jackie, I don't personally know anything about the DYCHES and BEARDs, except that they were neighbors of my ancestors. However, my family stories say that "all the County" was involved in the ALLISON-POOL War--including the YOUNGs for sure. And since the DYCHES and BEARDs were neighbors, what do you want to bet they were involved too? Hey, I'll dig up the family story written by my James A's granddaughter and send it to the list... Wow, speaking of land wars. Do you know anything about one between the Beards and the Dyches? Also in Eastern Williamson Co. -----Original Message----- From: Linda Pierce Forsyth [mailto:lforsyth@tca.net] Sent: Monday, December 11, 2000 9:23 PM To: jmorgan@txdirect.net Subject: Re: [TXWILLIA] Wmson Co stories YES! Family stories--Yay! Hey, wasn't there a horrendous blue norther in Williamson Co. in "the old days". A real blizzard, I mean. I think someone mentioned it one time, but I don't know the story of it... does anyone else? My ggg-grandparents, James A. ALLISON (b. 1810 TN) and wife Delilah HOWARD (b. 1812 TN) were cattle ranchers and farmers in what is now NE Williamson Co. -- beginning in 1847. James and brother Elihu Creswell ALLISON were in Houston Co. by late 1834. James enlisted in the Texian Army during the Texas Revolution. And then there was the famous "land war" between the ALLISONs and the POOLs. It seems that the Mexican empresario(s) had granted the same land to James A. ALLISON and Mr. Beverly POOL, and there was a very lengthy war with real shooting and even regrettably some deaths. BTW, both families were in Laurens Co., SC in the 1800 SC census. Interesting, huh. James and brother Elihu and families are in the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Wmson Co. censuses. They drove cattle on the Chisholm Trail, along with so many others from around there. LF
