Actually TX is five distinct areas rolled into one! It does make a difference to some people if you are from "The Valley", or "The Big Thicket", or "The Coast", or "West Texas", or "The Hill Country". These distinctions and some of the prejudices and snobbery that accompany them go back to pre-Statehood times. Native Texan, descended on one side from an "Alamo Hero" and on the other from one of the "Old Three Hundred"! Now I am glad to be "from Texas".
