Thanks Patti ~ Now I've found the address: Red River County Clerk's Office 200 N. Walnut Clarksville, TX 75425 Does anyone know the phone number? My experience has been that (in Texas) guardianships (and probates) are filed in the DISTRICT COURT, not the County Court. Now, in the smaller county seats, these records MAY be all in one office. But, for example, in Williamson County, County & District Courts are two distinct entities. Linda E.
Duane.... It's the "Application for Guardianship" I'm looking for. I'm not sure that would be in the probate record. At least it wasn't in the records here in Williamson Co. where the Will was being probated. Any more ideas? I'm sure open to them right now. :^) Fred On Mon Aug 21 11:10:27 2000, TXWILLIA-L@rootsweb.com wrote: > Try the County courthouse for probate records > > Duane Windsor > Carson City, NV > duanewin@gateway.net > my Windsor -Hunt Web Site > http://WindsorFamilyGenealogy.homestead.com/index.html > > =================== > ----- Original Message ----- > From: <fdg@flash.net> > To: <TXWILLIA-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, August 21, 2000 8:54 AM > Subject: Re: [TXWILLIA] GARRISON surname; Red River Co. Sharon ~ I do know that you can contact the County Clerk for the particular county for a search for probate. Then, like in the case of Williamson Co., it will cost you $5.00 per surname search and then $1.00 per page to have the probate package copied. Stacy Labaj was from Granger, Williamson County and she is in fact deceased. She contributed a great amount to genealogy in the area. I never knew her, but I do know that she helped some of my Allison kin with their genealogy some years ago. I have been told that she is deceased, but I cannot confirm that. I think your best bet would be to email, write or call the Wmson Co. Gen Soc and inquire about her. From what I hear, she was a wonderful person. > > Linda > ALLISON - REVEALE (all variations) - YOUNG > and many allied families > 1847 to date > > >
Yep..... I have a question for you. If you work in Texas probate where or who do I contact to get the Application for Guardianship in Clarksville, Red River Co., Texas? Sorry, Sharon, just read your note. Wills, deeds, etc. - the county clerk of the County where the person resided, usually. Deeds should be filed in county where land is held. Patti
For copies of all documents in this matter, contact the county clerk where papers were filed (usually county where applicant/guardian or ward/minor resides). Patti
Hi, all. Don't mean to butt in here, but I work in Texas probate. If you are the natural parent of a child, you are by law the guardian of his person. However, if the child comes into an estate (by whatever means - inheritance, lawsuit proceeds, ins.proceeds, etc., a guardian of the ESTATE must be appointed to manage the estate of the minor. No parent, natural or otherwise, is the guardian of their child's estate unless appointed by law (a court appointment with standards set for qualification, etc.). I'm open for questions, if you have any. Patti RIchardson
Does anyone have an idea how I can get a copy of an obituary for a death in Travis Co., Texas. Lee Page BRYAN SHIRLEY died April 12, 1947. She was the wife of Earl E. Shirley Thanks for any help.
This is true. I have an actual guardianship paper that states that the mother has guardianship of the minor children. This is filed in court and approved. Frances Love
Does anyone have the Williamson Co., TX Marriage Book Vol. II. Please check for marriage record of Rosa Lee BRYAN to a Mr. Wilkie probably 1905 or so. She may also have been married to a Mr. J. E. Rutherford in Williamson Co. too. She died in 1928 and he was listed as a survivor. Thanks for the look up. Jackie Morgan
On July 20, 1891, Ed Garrison applied for and on August 15, 1891 received a letter of Guardianship for two minor girls, Nannie G. and Sallie L. Garrison from County Court, Clarksville, Red River Co., Texas. The girls were great granddaughters of Andrew Gordon who had passed away and whose Will was being probated in Williamson Co., Texas. Now I know that if this Ed Garrison had been the natural father he wouldn't have had to get a letter of guardianship. So he could be a grandfather, uncle, cousin or even an older brother. What I'm searching for is descendants of these two cousins of mine (Nannie and Sally Garrison) along with whatever happened to their parents. Their mother being Sally Lane, daughter of Thomas Lane and Nancy "Nannie" Margaret Gordon. The latter being one of the daughters of Andrew Gordon (deceased) Thanks for any help possible Fred Gordon in Williamson Co., Texas
Hi; My 2 cents worth ! The father of my GGrandfather, James Basil Hunt, died and his mother remarried a John A. Parsons. When she predeceased him, John A. Parsons was appointed the Guardian James Basil in Hunt Co, TX courts. John A. Parsons was HIS step-father and James Basil Hunt inherited a Land Colony Cert. from his Grandmother for his support. This may be another reason for the necessity to be appointed Guardian !
