Could someone tell me if there is some place online where I might find a list of the burials in this Cemetery. I am looking for a Richard Neely Forehand died around 1910. He lived in the Florence area after coming to Texas. Any help would be appreciated. Bobby, sorry, no, I found no Shermans on the Berry's Creek Cemetery list. There are four Jacksons (you mentioned Cornelius Jackson Sherman). Don't know if that could be a link. Gene
Barbara, I'm sorry, I do not find any Gillelands or Holts listed in the transcription of Berry's Creek Cemetery. The transcription does note that there are 132 unmarked graves. There are only 15 marked graves earlier than 1870, although the earliest marked grave is 1851. Wish I could be of more help. Gene.
Sorry, Shannon, my post should not have been addressed to you. Apologies. It would be good for us all to know the exact status of the access across private property to the cemetery. I cannot provide that, except to say that it has been unlocked for my visits. Maybe someone else can advise us of the "official" status. Gene
My family history states that my great great grandparents Abram Gillilland and Melissa Holt Gilliland are burried in Berry's Creek Cemetery. Are they listed in the transcription list? I have never been down there and do not know if they have head stones. Thank you ahead of time for checking for me. Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eugene W. I never said it was a locked cemetery - I have never been there, I was posting informaiton when Hannah wrote it was a locked Cemetery Hannah that wrote that : From: wolbriks@swbell.net To: TXWILLIA-L@rootsweb.com Mon, 4 Sep 2000 06:18:33 -0700 References: 1 Were you aware that Berry's Creek Cemetery is a private cemetery--the gates are kept locked. Are you chance related to the James B. or I. M. Williams family? Hannah I was just letting Patricia of options to go to a private cemetery is all. Sorry, shouldn't of confused the issue about locked or unlocked private cemeteries. I would assume Hannah was correct when she posted it was locked. My mistake, sorry again Sharon "Eugene W. Karl, I have checked my transcription list for Berry's Creek Cemetery and find no Forehands. Sorry. Gene.
Sharon, can you elaborate on the "private cemetery" status of Berry's Creek Cemetery? I have ancestors buried there, and have visited it on a number of occasions, As recently as last year, and never found it locked. There is even a well-maintained cemetery index board outside, and picnic tables. The posted sign lists officers and directors of the cemetery association, which makes it seem pretty public. Maybe I'm missing something, but I think the cemetery itself is not private, although You do have to cross a short distance of private land with a gate to access the cemetery, Sure hope I'm not a violator, but I have never found the gate locked. Gene
Hi Patricia, I would go to the Historical or Genealogy Society and ask them who is the land owner. They should know about all the cemeteries in the county. I could do a better job dirceting someone to BErrys Creek Cemetary, where many of my ancestors are buried, if I had a Texas map with me. However, I am out of town and will "wing" it. Take I-35 north of Georgetown to the highway that goes to Florence, I think.. (It is about 7 miles out of town.) You almost have to know where you are going to find it, as it is off the road on your right, maybe 4 miles from I-35. You cannot see it from the highway and I don't think there is a sign at the highway. Good luck!
Could someone give directions to Berry Creek Cemetery, from Georgetown? Thank you.

I have visited Berry's Creek Cemetery several times. There is a gate, but it was not locked the times I went there. The cemetery is north of Georgetown, ABOUT 1 mile west of IH-35 on County Road 195. Going west on CR 195, the cemetery is on the right. It is off the road, about 1/2 mile, and easy to miss. I don't remember if there was a sign or not. I don't know who owns the property you have to go through to get to the cemetery. The gate referred to is located just as you turn off CR 195, not at the cemetery itself. Linda Emry
Am trying to find out who W. W. Wilkie was. He married Rose Bryan on April 8, 1903 according to Book 11, Pg. 265, Lic. # 1845. She remarried before her death in 1928. Does anyone know anything about either of them or their son, R. T. Wilkie, who was living in San Antonio when his mother died in December, 1928 in San Antonio. Jackie Morgan
I enjoyed that story. There is at least one interesting stories in all families. F. Love Glass
