    3. Bonnie, Let me know if you have any luck. I am a member of Zion and I know we have records that go way back though many of the early ones are in German. St. Peter Lutheran is another possibility. It's also in Walburg and was begun in 1889. Their Phone # is 512/863-5600. No, I don't know about Churches of Christ. There is one currently in Georgetown, but I don't know their origination date. They are GT Church of Christ at 512/863-3071. Oh, I almost forgot. There's also Church of Christ at Strickland Grove which is located northwest of Georgetown--phone # 512/863-3955. Good luck! 3. Thanks Eric That is what i was looking for. If you have the time on Monday, also check out the genealogy collection at the Round Rock Library, it is sponsored by the Williamson County Genealogical Society. You might find some useful information there. It is located about a mile off I35. I think we exchanged message earlier in the summer about WCGS meetings right before your visit this weekend. I hope you enjoy your trip to our area! And I'll check back to see what you find. 3. Besides the catholic church at Corn Hill and Zion Lutheran "around the corner" from Corn Hill, St. Peter Lutheran at the bottom of the hill toward Walburg was founded in 1889. Check with the Williamson County Genealogy Society about Corn Hill - it was a thriving community before the railroad was routed to the Jarrell area, if memory serves me correctly. There is a great book by Clara Stearns Scarbrough, Land of Good Water: A Williamson County History which deals with the small, sometimes no longer existing, towns and communities of the county. - Karen -----Original Message----- From: ARABON@aol.com [mailto:ARABON@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2000 10:42 PM To: TXWILLIA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TXWILLIA] WILLIAMSON Co Churches Hello Lists, I was wondering if there is a list of churches that were open and active in 1877 into the 1880s for Williamson County ? 3. Eric, You put it so nicely by saying Rattlesnake Inn was a saloon/grill. We always called it a "beer joint". My father owned this establishment back in the '40's and was the owner that added the concrete slab/patio used for dancing in the hot summer. He also added the grape arbor in the back and served bar-b-q and fish frys on the tables set up. He wanted the business to become more a family establishment rather than a bar for men. It was about this time that their were so many Fort Hood soldiers patronizing the place and fights were very frequent. So frequent in fact that the US Army made Rattlesnake Inn "off limits" to soldiers and have been told that that ruling is still in existance today. You probably have already left to come to Texas for your trip but if not and you have a hard time finding the joint, please give me a call. I may still have the deed when Dad purchased it. Oh, so many stories come to mind when I think of Rattlesnake Inn. In fact, I think there was an article recently in the Georgetown paper about the place. 1. Re: [TXWILLIA] WILLIAMSON Co Baptist Churches
    2. I know Round Rock's Baptist church existed then because my great-grandfather W.H. Ross preached there just before the turn of the century. Other Baptist churches he preached in before 1905 were New Hope in Leander, Blockhouse near Leander/Cedar Park. He also preached at Fitzhugh Baptist Church, but that may be in Travis County. First Baptist in Round Rock recently celebrated its history with videotapes of old-time members -- the church has history of the first Baptist preachers who came to Texas. I have some turn-of-the-century records from New Hope Baptist Church in an issue of the Austin Genealogical Society Quarterly. Suzy Moehring Mallard Austin, Texas

    3. MORRIS - BEARD - MC KINSY Researching Elizabeth BEARD, daughter of William Carver Beard and Mary Jane MAY BEARD of Granger, Williamson Co., Texas. Elizabeth was born in 1858 in Williamson Co. According to a marriage license dated Jan. 24, 1881 an Elizabeth MC KINSY married Albert B. MORRIS. ( I believe this to be Elizabeth BEARD because family records show she was married to Albert Morris.) I do not know who Mr. MC KINSY was or what happened to him. Note: Elizabeth was living in Georgetown with her mother and sister on the 1880 Williamson Co., census in dwelling Pg. 429, #100. A.B. MORRIS was also listed in Georgetown on pg. 426, dwelling # 29 in the J. R. McCormic household. Albert B. MORRIS and Elizabeth BEARD (MC KINSY) MORRIS were the parents of three sons: William B. MORRIS, died before 1946; Elmer C. MORRIS, living in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1946; and Albert D. MORRIS, living in Dallas in 1946. I am trying to find out what happened to this family. I know that Elizabeth died in 1890, but not exact date or where or why. I have no further information on the family until the notations on her brother's will saying where the Morris sons were in 1946. Would like to hear from anyone with information on this family.
