I am in the process of trying to find something on Harrold. If I am not able to find anything, we will go out and make a list as we have done with other cemeteries in Wilbarger Co. We hope to soon have records for each cemetery in the county and have a surname master index on this site. Keep checking back. Charles
Posted on: Wilbarger County, Tx Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Wilbarger?read=323 Surname: Glasgow, Ratliff, Stephenson ------------------------- I would like to know if Susan Deliliah Glasgow(possibly Glasco) is buried in Wilbarger County. She was living in the home of Dr. Jefferson Davis Ratliff in Delta County,TX. in 1900. After 1900 Dr. Ratliff lived in Wilbarger and in 1907,he moved from Harrold,TX.,Wilbarger to Baylor County,TX. I would appreciate someone checking cemetery records to see if Susan Glasgow or Glasco is buried in Wilbarger County. Dr. Jefferson Davis Ratliff married one of my Stephenson relatives. Susan Glasgow had been living with my Stephensons since 1870 in Alabama. If she was living after 1900 she probably went with the Ratliffs to Harrold,TX. -------------------------------- End of TXWILBAR-D Digest V00 Issue #33 ************************************** From root@lists6.rootsweb.com Tue Aug 1 19:19:54 2000 Return-Path: <root@lists6.rootsweb.com> Received: from lists6.rootsweb.com (lists6.rootsweb.com [63.92.80.125]) by listsearches.rootsweb.com (8.10.1/8.10.1) with ESMTP id e722Jsw26690 for <indexer@listsearches.rootsweb.com>; Tue, 1 Aug 2000 19:19:54 -0700 Received: (from root@localhost) by lists6.rootsweb.com (8.10.1/8.10.1) id e722Jti18073 for indexer@listsearches.rootsweb.com; Tue, 1 Aug 2000 19:19:55 -0700 Date: Tue, 1 Aug 2000 19:19:55 -0700 Message-Id: <200008020219.e722Jti18073@lists6.rootsweb.com> From: TXWILBAR-D-request@rootsweb.com Subject: TXWILBAR-D Digest V00 #33 X-Loop: TXWILBAR-D@rootsweb.com X-Mailing-List: <TXWILBAR-D@rootsweb.com> archive/volume00/33 Precedence: list MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/digest; boundary="----------------------------" To: TXWILBAR-D@rootsweb.com Reply-To: TXWILBAR-L@rootsweb.com ------------------------------ Content-Type: text/plain TXWILBAR-D Digest Volume 00 : Issue 33 Today's Topics: #1 Susan D. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------EFC854636AA44643C88EA48D Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit MOSS, Clyde B. I'm looking for his mother and father. Clyde was born in October of 1910 maybe in Vernon, Wilbarger Co., TX or southern Oklahoma. His mother, whose name may be Nola, put him on a train in 1915 with a note pinned on his coat that said "his name is C.B." and signed "Mrs. Nola Riza." She sent him from Vernon to Dallas to an orphan home, where he stayed until he turned 16. Possible last names for Nola: Prather, Wright, Riza, Moss, Gilliam. Nola may have died in Arkansas City (state ?) before 1940. No death certificate found yet because I don't know her name at death. A birth certificate has never been found for Clyde and the name MOSS first appears as he entered the orphan home so it may not be correct. It may have been given by Clyde himself. I have been to Vernon and searched birth, death and marriage records in the courthouse. I talked to a researcher in the area and she suggested a few things to look at, including the County History book that is in the library there. Clyde said he remembered his father (could have been father figure) in a farming accident just before he went to Dallas. Are there newspaper records on microfilm for 1915? I've written to the Baptist church requesting information - none found. (The orphan home has Baptist affilliation and the note was addressed "Dear Brethren.") One marriage record that I found was for Nola Gertrude Wright and Solomon Davenport in December 1915. This Nola later married Rouse and died in about 1975 in Vernon. I have corresponded with descendents and they do not believe she had any children prior to her marriage to Davenport. It is believed that Clyde's mother married again and had other children. Clyde said he received a letter from his supposed stepfather (maybe Gilliam) who said he didn't know that Clyde existed. The letter was burned. Clyde was bitter to think his mother never came back for him. I sure would like to find something about Clyde's parents for the sake of his children and grandchildren. Clyde died in 1996 in Phoenix AZ. Posted on: Wilbarger County, Tx Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Wilbarger?read=319 Surname: Crawford ------------------------- I need help finding my grandfather. His name was Thomas O'Neal Crawford (went by T. O. Crawford)and he was born in Texas. He married Lillie Mary Thomas in 1906. They were married in Van Zandt County, Texas and lived in Ben Wheeler, Texas. They had four children: Carl O'Neal Crawford (1907); Otis Crawford (1910); Mabel Crawford (1912) and Joseph Carmen Crawford (1915). He left Van Zandt County sometime after 1915 and the next record I can find on him is a Warranty Deed dated 6/21/1920. This record was his transferring property to Lillie Mary Crawford and states that he then lived in the County of Wilbarger, Texas. His signature was supposedly notarized by Nat M. Crawford in Lindale (Smith County), Texas. The deed was possibly not filed until 7/11/1930 as that date is referenced on the Van Zandt County records. Any information on this man would very much be appreciated by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Found some information, but need proof of the following: 1. The Prince Bros. Drilling Company was the first one in the state of Texas? 2. Marguerite Prince Underwood owned at least 58 rent houses in Vernon. 3. The "Sunshine Lease," was the first oil boom in Vernon area or TX? 4. Either the Prince Bros. company, or some of the brothers owned numerous buildings in and around Vernon and Electra, including banks and movie theatres. 5. During the "Burke-Burnett Boom," Clarke Gable was working for the Prince Bros. on the well site as an oil hand. 6. At one time Prince Bros. Drilling and Gailey (sp?) Drilling Company, worked together to bring in wells at leases from TX to Colorado. 7. The Prince Bros. or one of the individual brothers loaned H. L. Hunt money and put him on a lease. 8. The Prince Bros. Drilling Company were running 48 wells at one time around Gladewater, TX. 9. They donated an oil company truck to a museum (Longview, Marshall area), is it still there? Someone at the museum painted another local company name on the doors, but that was supposed to have been removed. 10. Where is "NINE OAKS" farm, ranch, oil lease, whatever, located in Longview or Gladewater or Marshall area??????
