He was my grandfather. My father was Floyd Bunch. My husband has been doing some off and on genealogy and probably has the names of George's parents. My mother is still living and probably remembers-also can get names of brothers of Geo Bunch-still in close connection with son of Dottie Bunch, one of George's brothers. He was a brother to my great grandmother Alice B. Coleman Goad. Have very little information on him. From what I have been told he is in a picture with his parents taken before 1900. Not of exact date of the picture. His parents were William Coleman and Ellen E. Thrailkill Coleman. Do not have birth year but guess it would be around 1870-1880.

George died 08-22-1959 and he was buried in Eastview Cemetary, which I cannot find record of. He moved to Vernon in 1927 from Paris, texas. I am looking for information about his parents, names unknown. He had four brothers of whom I only have the initials, TR, DJ, FD, AC. Any information greatly appreciated.

L. Rose, 91, a resident of Wilbarger County since 1912 died early Sunday morning in a local convalescent home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Merritt, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in East View Memorial Cemetery under direction of Henderson Funeral Home. Mrs. Rose had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Gordon Hale, for the past 23 years. Born Oct. 11, 1867 in Georgetown Ill., Mrs. Rose, the former Sophronia Martin, came with her late parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Martin to Denton at the age of 11. She married G. L. Rose on Cooke County on Dec. 22, 1887. Mr. Rose died in 1946. She was a member of the Extension Department of the First Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Walter Suttle, John Storey, Dick Coffey, Jim Lutz, John Naylor and Damon Simmons. Those surviving other than Mrs. Hale include another daughter, Mrs. Alice Cagle of Amarillo; one sister, Mrs. A. J. Oute of Henrietta; 11 grand children, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild.

G. L. Rose, 82, a resident of Wilbarger County for the last 35 years and retired merchant of the Tolbert community, died at his home in Vernon about 11 o'clock Thursday night following a four month illness. Funeral rites will be held in the First Baptist Church at 2:30 Saturday afternoon with Dr. E. S. James, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in East View Memorial Cemetery under direction of Henderson Funeral Home. Mr. Rose is survived by the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Gordon Hale of Vernon and Mrs. J. W. Cagle of Amarillo; one son, V. E. Rose of Erie, Penn.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A native of Springfield, Mo., Mr. Rose was born March 24, 1864. He was married to Miss Sophronia Martin at Denton Dec. 22, 1886. The family came to Wilbarger County in 1911 and settled in the Tolbert Community where Mr. Rose operated a general merchandise store for 16 years. Following his retirement he and Mrs. Rose moved to Vernon where they have resided for the past 10 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

George married Sophronia Martin. She was born Oct 11, 1867 and died on August 1, 1959 in Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas. She is buried in the Eastview Cemetery. Is George perhaps buried there, too? Clerks office. The record # is 14,265. There was no reference to either partie's birth date or place. It did state that they were married 19 Feb. 1966. It didn't state where. I checked in the County Clerk's office and found that they were not married here. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Mrs. Anderson was born March 23, 1906, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Will Stephenson, pioneer Quanah residents. She married Dewey Anderson Feb. 12, 1939 and made her home here until her death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was Superintendent of Nursery No. 1. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Merritt, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband; one son, Charles of Vernon; one daughter, Karen LaJean of Vernon; one brother, Ralph Stephenson of San Antonio; one sister, Mrs. Buford Hammack of Vernon, and two nephews.

Family history VERY vague. I am not sure how accurate some names are. Grandfather S.E. (Samuel Echols?) Johnson Lived in or around Vernon in the 1920's. Worked at Waggoner Ranch. married to "Ollie" Betts. Had 2 children Louis & Ethel Belle before his death sometime before 1926. Two stories on how death occurred. He is buried at Vernon East View Cemetery. Ollie Betts remarried. Married Clifford Jessee before 1926. S.E. may have had siblings by the names of Ethel, Gladys, "Sister Babe", Tommie (a woman), Will, and Heber. If any of this sounds familiar, PLEASE let me know. I am so stuck right now.
