The only way I can think of to pinpoint the date is to order copies of the tax rolls for Wichita and Foard Counties for the years you suspect they came. Even if they didn't pay property tax, they may have paid poll taxes for those years. While it doesn't guarantee an exact year, you could be pretty certain they arrived either in the first year they paid taxes or the year prior (as they may have not paid taxes in their first year in Texas). APPROX 1906-1910. They farmed in FOARD CO. & WICHITA CTY.TEXAS. Samuel L. Strange was the son of William Berry Strange a Minister and former Captain in the CSA, in Marshall Cty., Al. Samantha was the dau of JOHN B. NIXON & Hiram Childress-Nixon of Marshall Cty. formerly of Georgia. SAM & SAMANTHA WERE BOTH BORN IN 1872. Sam & Samantha had four children when moving to Tx. NAOMI (Omie), OTHAR, Mary Francis ( Elbe) and a son Otis Webb Strange. I am trying to establish for certain if their 5th child, a son Bert William Garland Strange was born in TX or Al. on 6-3-1906. This Strange family moved across the River into Jefferson Cty., Ok. abt. 1934. William Berry Strange the son of Amos Strange was Born in Spartanburg, S.C. after his father Amos left Virginia to marry Frances Bailey. Amos had been instrumental in establishing a church in Va. & later helped establish a church in Spartanburg, S.C.. If anyone out there is researching this branch of the Strange Tree I would like to hear from you.. I will be grateful for any information. I would also like info on the NIXON & CHILDRESS Families of Marshall Co., Al. Thanks so much.. Please email me directly at B29wendover@wmconnect.com....
