    1. Volunteers needed to transcribe events in old papers - do it through e mail
    2. I have 4 volunteers so far. I may not have made myself clear but you don't have to live in Wichita Falls to do this. You just have to sit at your computer, type it up and send it back to me. Anyone else want to help? Julie

    2. I was wrong about the page number of the paper that this obit is on. It is page 9 of the July 27, 1921 paper. The headline says "Body of Overseas Veteran Buried Tuesday" Is there anyone out there who can go to the library and do a lookup for Bernice? I won't have any time during week for about a month to do it. Julie

    3. Hi Flo- The answer to your problem depends on how you are actually reading these messages. 1. Are you getting the messages as Email? If so, what email software are you using (Outlook express, AOL, Juno, etc). 2. If you are reading them as an email client, are you subscribed to the list so that the messages come to you one at a time, or the digest version, where you get several email messages attached to one email from the list server? If you will send this information to me, I bet I can come up with a solution. When you are looking at a message, you might also look at the tool bar, click Format, and look for something called Wrap Text or Word Wrap. Make sure it is selected (often it gets unselected if you happen to be using notepad). 3. Kentucky Births, just a comment. KY started keeping birth records in 1911, however the parctice did not become reasonably universal until the mid to late 1930's. At the beginning it appears the only births recorded were those where a doctor was in attendance at the birth and then only if he remembered to do it. The name of the child was often incorrect as was the spelling of the parents names. It takes a bit of creativity to identify many of the children. Since a lot of births were attended by a midwife no records were provided. I think the same applied in Texas based on limited research. With the passage of the Social Security Act in 1935 the need for more and better birth reecords got a major boost. Hope this clears up a few questions. genshermg@comcast.net wrote: >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Surnames: Caddell, Brown, Smith >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RAC.2ACI/1510 > >Message Board Post: > >Seeking the dates of deaths and marriages of Thelma Smith, born 1911, Roy Smith, born 1915, Patsy Smith, born 1926, and Margarette Lee Brown, born 1929. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RAC.2ACI/1509 Message Board Post: O.K. folks, I have subscribed to the Historical Newspapers on ancestry.com and one of those papers, just happens to be Wichita Falls. I have begun working on Obits and Marriages and other stories but there is a section in each paper called "Personal Mention" and it talks about who came to see who and who went to see who and in many cases it mentions relatives names, maiden names etc. I need volunteers to transcribe some of these. This will be a really long project for us unless a lot of you come on board. If you give me a solid commitment to do this, and within a very reasonable amount of time, I will send you a weeks worth of pages at a time. If you want more after that, then great, if not, then just tell me. I think this would be a great addition to the Wichita Co. site and Norm promises me that he wants to change the site around and update and add more to it, don't you Norm? Julie

    2. I know of no private burials that still exist in pastures except for one place in Wichita Falls and Williams is not one of them. I searched all of the city cemeteries and she is not listed. Do you find her in the 1880 census in Wichita Falls? I am afraid that she will not be found. Sorry that I couldn't help. Julie
