Hi Wanda, What were your grandfather and G-uncle's names? If the state doesn't have a record of their deaths, the county should. My Great Uncle died in 1937 and I have the obit. However there is no record of him being buried in Iowa Park in Highland cemetery. I know about the mess they have there so assume he had someone buried with him. My grandfather died in 1922 and has no death record. He died in Hunt Co. I have an obit for him also. I guess they just missed the death records as those dates didn't have to have a death record. However 1937 should have had one. I went to the funeral home and checked the record myself and it isn't there but he was buried in Iowa Park Highland Cemetery. Wanda

Nina, After you have a specific date of death and proof that he died in Wichita County, contact Andrew Jeler at the Public Library. (Do you want to check out that Claude KIMBALL who died in Harris County?) Andrew C. Jelen Genealogy Librarian Wichita Falls Public Library 600 11th Street Wichita Falls, Texas 76301-4604 (940) 767-0868 x250 andrew.jelen@wfpl.net Bill Allen <misterbill@pdq.net>
Hi Nina, TX Death Records don't have a KIMBALL who died in Wichita County between 1903 and 1955. The only Claude KIMBALL in the TX Death Records (1903-1940) died in Harris County on 28 Feb 1937. (Could they have divorced rather than Claude dying between 1926-30?) In the 1920s, some counties didn't always report every death to the state. But the county should have a record of the death. Contact the County Clerk's Office. Wichita County Vital Records Wichita County Clerk P.O. Box 1679 Wichita Falls, TX 76307-1679 (940) 766-8100 or 766-8144 Bill Allen <misterbill@pdq.net>

Hi Mary, TX Death Records: Rufus Nelson BAIN died in Wichita County on 9 Oct 1945. (There's a Rubin Nelson BAIN who died in Leon County in 1951.) For Rubin Nelson BAIN's obituary, contact: Andrew C. We now have nine wonderful volunteers who have come on board to help with the transcription project of the Wichita Falls Daily Times. This gets us from the beginning of the paper on May 15, 1907 to August 2,1907. This is only the beginning. More help would be greatly appreciated! Special thanks to Gwen, Bobby, Betty, Sharon, Mary, Joan, Larri Jean, Sue and Evelyn. If I left any names out please e mail me because I forgot to put you on my list. This is only a start, this project will take time and we could use more people to help. I would e mail you everything you would need to do it from your computer and you would then e mail it back to me. If you would like to help, please e mail me. Julie
I'm really happy to see so much input on this list lately, and kudoes for those responsible! I took me years to get info on my g uncle Rufus N. BAIN, b. 1871 in Leon County son of John A. BAIN and Anne E. TAYLOR, who migrated to TX from AL in 1856-7. He is listed on the 1930 Wichita Falls census as widowed, m. at age 22. I know he was in Jones County about 1883 when his mother died, and the family moved to Wise County, but only found him in Wichita through family recounting. He died there in 1949. Family thoughts were that he was indeed married and may have had a daughter. Did he have family in Wichita Falls? If anyone can help me out in piecing this together will be ever so grateful ! Mary BAIN Wendland

Hi List, I've been lurking for some time and must say this appears to be an actiive and helpful newsletter. A lot of people are actively helping others. That's what genealogy is all about. Is there anyone on the list who is a descendant of Enoch Hamilton who settled in the Beaver Creek area in about 1880? If there are any of you I'd certainly like to hear from you. I have a lot of info on his ancestry and a fair bit on his descendants. I'll be happy to exchange info. Thanks, Bill Hunter
