Holzer, 65, of Wichita Falls, died Thursday, March 19, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hampton Vaughn Crestview Chapel with the Rev. Larry Brownfield, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Holzer was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Wichita Falls. He and Jean Rudolph were married Oct. 18, 1953. She died in November 1988. He and Barbara Wallace were married May 26, 1990. He attended Wichita Falls High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Marine Corps from 1950-53. He retired from Certain-Teed as a supervisor after 17 years. He boxed in the Golden Gloves Tournament for three years and was a member of Faith Baptist Church and Healthy Hearts Association. He was a lifetime member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association. He had lived in Wichita Falls since 1973. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Riley of Wichita Falls; two stepdaughters, Shelley Daily of Graham, Texas, and Janie Spain of Wichita Falls, a stepson, Scott Wallace of Breckenridge, Texas; his mother, Pauline Grider of Wichita Falls; three brothers, Jerry and Gerald, both of Wichita Falls, and Delbert of Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Pauline Horn of Fort Worth, Barbara Bunch of Wichita Falls and Sandra Kline of Phoenix; two grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. Trying to locate the cemetery he was buried in. Also would like to know if his wife, Minnie Watts Yount, was buried beside him. She died March 14, 1967 in Kern County, California.

Thanks for adding me to your list. For about 6 years I have tried to find an Uncle and Wife, and her brother who lived in Wichita Falls between the late 1920's and at least the early 1950's The Informant's name on the Funeral Home Record was misspelled, and now by checking her Death Records in CA, I now know the correct spelling of the name. The names I am researching were Frank W. Jones, and wife Nelle/Nellie McIlheran, and her brother Aaron McIlheran. I know that Aaron and wife Dorothy had at least 2 children born in Wichita Falls, TX. I know that Aaron was living there in 1940 when he signed as informant in the death of Frank W. Jones, and that from the City Directory aid I know that Frank W. Jones was in the City Directory in 1926 abd 1827, I found he was there in 1935-1940. If someone has access to the City Directory, would really like to know if Frank W. Jones was listed in the 1930 City Directory. So far I have been unable to find him in the 1930 Census. I did find Aaron A. McIlheran in the 1930 Census living there. Anyhelp on the Frank W. Jones between 1927 and 1935 in Wichita Falls would be so helpful to me. Thanks, Mary

Mary, at looking through the city cemetery listing I find F. M. Jones who was buried Feb. 16, 1921 and in the same plot Mrs. Nellie Jones who was buried Feb. 26, 1922 They are buried in the very old and poor part of the cemetery. There are many empty or blank spaces where I am sure there was once a stone and now there is not. I do not find a headstone for F.M. Jones, either he never had one or it has been destroyed (we have had vandalism in the cemetery) but below is Nellies. Julie Coley

I will make this short and sweet. I would hope that everyone who is able to, will make some kind of donation whether it be big or small to the Red Cross to help the Hurricane Victims. Being from Wichita Falls, I know how much help came into this town during the tornado in 79, but this kind of devastation is unimaginable. We have been told that we will be receiving victims here soon. We have already received 1400 students from Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. And the city is preparing to receive many more very soon. I know he was born on Dec. 24, 1867 in Walker Co. Ga. His family moved to Ellis Co. Tx. in about 1873. His mother and his sisters moved to Montague Co. sometime around 1890. He was known to have lived on both sides of Red River. He married my grandmother, Mary King Rich, in 1907 in Terral , Ok. They lived in Jefferson Co. Ok. where they are found on the 1910 census in Ryan. I found him on the 1920 census of Wichita Falls. He was a boarder in a boarding house and was listed as an oil broker. I have not been able to find him after this time. He died sometime in 1932. I do not know where is buried. Alex Pierce married Nora Jane LAIR. Nora was previously married to a Mr. HALEY and supposed to have had several children with Mr. Haley. I have that Alex and Nora PIERCE married on April 11, 1911 possibly in the Hill, McLennan or Limestone County TX area. Alex and Nora had several girls and a boy named Buster PIERCE. Buster was killed at a fairly young age working on a oil rig. Para Lee / Paralee PIERCE. She was also born in Arkansas probably in the Independence/Stone Co., area in the late 1880s or early 1890s. Believed to be the youngest child. She shows up on the 1900 Independence Co., AR census with her parents, but was not listed on the 1880 Stone Co., AR census. I also believe that Paralee's descendants live in the Wichita County area. I do not have any vitals on her, but may have married in the Hill, McLennan or Limestone Co., TX area between 1900 and 1910, as she does not show up with her parents on the 1910 Hill County Census. Alex and Paralee Pierce are children of Franklin Marion PIERCE and Caroline FULLER. Father goes by Marion PIERCE. I know that F. M. and Caroline PIERCE had 12 children and by 1910 only 4 of their children were still living. 3 of their children and their families lived in Texas and one lived in Colorado. My gr gr grandfather is James Tyree Pierce a sibling to Alex and Paralee. James and his family lived in the Medina Co., TX area and is buried there.
