Thank you all for your quick response to my request. In reponse to the question from Billy Jackson if I'm a "ZUEHLKE" from Texas. The answer is yes. In fact I only live about 40 miles from him in Clifton, Bosque County. All of my four sets of grandparents began their life in America in Washington County, Texas. My great-grandfather, AUGUST ZUEHLKE, and his family left Washington County in the early 1880's settling in Bosque County. Other primary names that I'm researching are THIELE, HAMPE, and WALSLEBEN. Those families also left Washington County (around the 1900's) and settled in Bosque County. Since I have had little luck getting information about their ancestors I thought I'd try my hand at learning what drew them to Washington County. I'm assuming there were other family members living there. Billy, your response really caught my attention. I am not the first "Helen Zuehlke" in my family. I had a great aunt, Helen Ernestine Zuehlke, who was born in the 1882 in Washington County. Our story is that her father, August Zuehlke, had a brother in Texas, but since he died in 1888 no information was handed down about other family members except for his sister, Caroline Zuehlke Bernhardt.
